Here's the thing about software development: no matter how much time and thought and planning you put into it, you are *not* going to get it right first time. So get it wrong fast.

I never thought about it this way, but this is so right. Writing code is hard because you have to make the the compiler, the CI/CD system, other developers who will read and review it, and business requirements happy all in one go. https://t.co/Jq4ndCWdqu pic.twitter.com/BZaJNt5YxC

Developer experience is so much more than using the product itself.

Debugging is part of dev exp.
Documentation is part of dev exp.
Your error messages SHOULD NOT be coming back looking like cryptic metaphors.
I should be able to find what I need in your docs in minutes.
David Zipper That's the one beta test I don't want to participate in:
Everyone who walks or bikes should understand that Tesla is risking your life with its "Full-Self Driving" feature.
Like it or not, we're all part of beta tests being conducted on our public streets -- while @NHTSAgov sits on its hands.

“Digital hygiene” (the idea that you get yourself “dirty” online and it’s your job to keep “clean”) was created to convince us that corporations aren’t responsible for making their digital products safe. https://t.co/c6ZVr26Hs2

My favorite hiring practice from early Stripe: the recruiter would ask the *receptionist* for candidate feedback.

Some brilliant + charming candidates are … very mean or condescending, when they think they’re not being evaluated, towards those they perceive as low status. 🚮 https://t.co/EUKbwEWZsj

Stereotyping Black women as angry hurts their careers.
— Adam Grant (@AdamMGrant) February 10, 2022
Data: if a man or white woman gets mad, we attribute it to the situation. They were wronged!
If a Black woman shows the same anger, we blame her. She's hostile!

Octopuses are surprisingly intelligent, and reproduce at 1 year old. If we'd started a breeding program 50 years ago, we probably could've gotten them smarter than dolphins by now. A disappointing failure of the long-term mad science ecosystem.

As is always the case, when leaders say “don’t bring politics to work” they actually mean “don’t bring YOUR politics to work”. They want to be able to spout their beliefs and pretend everyone agrees.
