#11ty
It's time to stream!
Let's work on updating my portfolio page in Ignition CMS.
@cjerrington To answer your question about gathering posts, it's not automated, but I can add them pretty quickly. I sub to a lot of RSS feeds and have some other methods for unearthing them, including the occasional google search as well as watching the #11ty and #eleventy hashtags here. The post metadata is stored in an Airtable database that the site fetches from at build time.
Basically stopped working on my side project because #gohugo was absolutely driving me nuts.
Spent a couple of days converting it into #11ty and I couldn't be happier. There's still some templates to convert and a lot of content metadata to fix before I make the final switch on production, but the new Git repository looks so much cleaner. It's actually maintainable now!
The only regret I have is not doing this so much earlier, If I did, I would've hard launched the project by now.
It feels kinda cool to be listed on the #11ty bundle site by @bobmonsour !
This is a great resource for all 11ty items and even I can learn more here too rather than searching endlessly online for help.
My website got a new design. What do you think?
Hey @eleventy #11ty #eleventy kids! You can now sort the Authors page by name or the count of their posts on https://11tybundle.dev/
As the developer of 11tybundle.dev, I had a recent idea that I can't seem to let go of. I'm wanting to count and save the number of clicks that each outbound link to a blog post and then use that stored count on the site as a measure of frequency of use. I've described the question in more detail in this blog post on my personal site. I felt it was a bit too long to pose as a direct question here. #11ty #eleventy https://www.bobmonsour.com/posts/question-how-to-count-outbound-links/
Having some fun* with Netlify caching on an #11ty site today. When running @screamingfrog #seo spider against a site of mine, with User Agent set to Screaming Frog, it is getting a cached set of pages - not the latest ones. When I change the User-Agent to Safar I get all the latest set of pages, and when set to Google Mobile I get a mixed bag of some of the full set and some old ones.
Annoyingly GSC isn't picking up the changes on test - it is getting the old pages.

@ashur I just read your "notifications thingamajig" post and it's amazingly simple, powerful, and likely quite useful to many. I'll link to it here. I had missed it in my first pass over your site looking for your #11ty posts. It should hit the bundle site tomorrow.

@nhoizey @davatron5000 interesting read…there’s all this stuff going on under the hood that I know very little about. I’m happy to work with #11ty and learn some js along the way as needed.
@cjerrington Hiu Clayton, I just saw your mention of #11ty and found that you have several blog posts on the topic. I'm going to add them to the 11tybundle.dev site.
Need to look into this #netlify plugin for #webmention and might need to update my #11ty site as well.

I've been toying with the idea of a personal site/blog for a while and I finally wrapped up (for the time being) the big personal project I was trying to get off my plate, so I spun up a new #11ty project to poke at in between other things.
I've just contributed to Eleventy. Consider supporting them too — every little helps! https://opencollective.com/11ty #11ty
@finner If you're looking for blog posts from a bunch of people who have written about #11ty #eleventy, please check out the 11ty Bundle site. https://11tybundle.dev/
i’ve posted this one before but if you want VS Code autocompletion for all the cool things your #11ty config can do, you can add this JSDoc comment at the top.

Released v2.0 of my #eleventy #11ty #eleventyBliss theme.
Shout-out to @lucascantor for contributions and @bnijenhuis for a brilliant recipe for automatic OpenGraph images which I ported to this version of the theme.
And now please excuse me, I gotta finally port all of that to my own blog. The shoemaker's children are ill-shod or so they say.

No new issue of the #11ty Bundle this week. I'm heading to Kentucky to celebrate a cousin's 70th birthday. She's got an awesome horse farm. I built her site with Squarespace, years before my @eleventy obsession. Check it out anyway.
Recipe for a custom "live code" presentation:
- #11ty
- View transitions meta tag for crossfades (requires flags enabled on Chrome Canary)
- BroadcastChannel API to send navigation and other events from a separate "Notes" window
- Rety and Prism by @leaverou to simulate "live", syntax-highlighted typing (Rety is excellent, thanks for releasing it, Lea!)
- a bit of general hackery
I just came across Raymond Camden's glowing review of the Eleventy by Example book by @brob

@DianaThompson Eleventy doesn't directly deal with accessibility. It allows a developer to create a static website. The developer has total flexibility with the ability to choose from several different templating languages to use for generating the HTML and CSS (and optional JS). Thus, the developer has to bring their own accessibility skills to the table to produce an accessible site using Eleventy. You might find this helpful. #eleventy #11ty https://www.11ty.dev/docs/accessibility/
Had an issue with an #11ty site failing deployment to Cloudflare Pages yesterday - needed a new variable set up on Cloudflare.

@rusticola I wanted to circle back to you...I just added a Starters page on the 11tyBundle site, listing an even dozen. Hope you find it useful. #11ty #eleventy @eleventy
@elly @elly I have #IndieKit installed on a test site and looks promising. But I don’t use it for my personal posts yet, so can't fully recommend. Contributions to the repo are sporadic but recent.
Added a couple of screenshots so you can get an idea of what the admin side looks like. It is setup to have syndication plugins, too.
Uses #IndieAuth, too!
I'm also interested in PESOS and seems like that concept would be a perfect combination with an automated #11ty build.
I track my reading in Airtable, and wanted to display my in-progress reading on my @eleventy site automatically based on my Airtable list. I wrote about how it's set up here, and I'll be talking through it at the next Eleventy Meetup, May 19 on Zoom!

The #11ty slide decks plugin now ships a #webc component. Giv'er:

I'm thinking that I need to make the default draft setting for my blog posts as 'true' so I'm forced to override the setting to publish something. I'm usually in the mode of forgetting to remove draft: true (or changing it to false) and wondering why my post isn't being published. My real fear is that I ever forget to add the draft setting to my post front matter at all and it gets published when I think it's a draft. There! I convinced myself that I'm going to do it. #11ty #eleventy
Today is LAUNCH DAY!
In the past, I've posted the 11ty Bundle blog post content here. Those posts were on my personal blog. I decided to create a dedicated site for them along with a ton of content that I've collected from around the web, organized by category and author. I have more plans, but it's ready enough for now. Here's a link to the launch day post. Check it out and let me know what you think.

@lukem I built a simple photo gallery page for my #11ty site here: https://www.cassey.dev/casseygram/ and blogged about it here. The images are in Sanity CMS.
Full write-up including link to the code here: https://www.cassey.dev/posts/2022-03-27-sanity-with-existing-eleventy-site/
@renegadejade #11ty is great, builds fast, and let you decide when YOU need/want to add JS to the site, so builds fast sites by default.
Going to rebuild my personal/portfolio site from scratch as my old domain is deprecated anyway and starting fresh with the affirming renegadejade.com (bare, currently).
What’s the easiest #JAMstack static site generator/hosting option right now? Currently running Next.js on Vercel and still have a couple Jekyll sites on Netlify.
Thinking #11ty on GitLab pages this time around but I haven’t touched it yet.
