Thanks to @jbleuzen ❤️ , our website is back, built on #11ty
Still some things to do (to bring back the news section).

But the website is alive.

And do you know what? You can contribute to it.

I think that we'll remove the french and german sections.

Your help is welcome.

@cjerrington To answer your question about gathering posts, it's not automated, but I can add them pretty quickly. I sub to a lot of RSS feeds and have some other methods for unearthing them, including the occasional google search as well as watching the #11ty and #eleventy hashtags here. The post metadata is stored in an Airtable database that the site fetches from at build time.

Basically stopped working on my side project because #gohugo was absolutely driving me nuts.

Spent a couple of days converting it into #11ty and I couldn't be happier. There's still some templates to convert and a lot of content metadata to fix before I make the final switch on production, but the new Git repository looks so much cleaner. It's actually maintainable now!

The only regret I have is not doing this so much earlier, If I did, I would've hard launched the project by now.

It feels kinda cool to be listed on the #11ty bundle site by @bobmonsour !

This is a great resource for all 11ty items and even I can learn more here too rather than searching endlessly online for help.

As the developer of 11tybundle.dev, I had a recent idea that I can't seem to let go of. I'm wanting to count and save the number of clicks that each outbound link to a blog post and then use that stored count on the site as a measure of frequency of use. I've described the question in more detail in this blog post on my personal site. I felt it was a bit too long to pose as a direct question here. #11ty #eleventy https://www.bobmonsour.com/posts/question-how-to-count-outbound-links/

Having some fun* with Netlify caching on an #11ty site today. When running @screamingfrog #seo spider against a site of mine, with User Agent set to Screaming Frog, it is getting a cached set of pages - not the latest ones. When I change the User-Agent to Safar I get all the latest set of pages, and when set to Google Mobile I get a mixed bag of some of the full set and some old ones.

Annoyingly GSC isn't picking up the changes on test - it is getting the old pages.

@ashur I just read your "notifications thingamajig" post and it's amazingly simple, powerful, and likely quite useful to many. I'll link to it here. I had missed it in my first pass over your site looking for your #11ty posts. It should hit the bundle site tomorrow.

i’ve posted this one before but if you want VS Code autocompletion for all the cool things your #11ty config can do, you can add this JSDoc comment at the top.

https://gist.github.com/xdesro/69583b25d281d055cd12b144381123bf

A VS Code window showing someone actively calling a method on an eleventyConfig object in their .eleventy.js file. VS Code is offering all methods available that start with the currently typed-in prompt. See linked gist for full code text.

I've been playing around with #11ty or #eleventy (not sure which nomenclature is more common) recently. I'm quite digging it. I feel like I'm getting the hang of it much more quickly than I felt I did with Hugo and Zola.

Released v2.0 of my #eleventy #11ty #eleventyBliss theme.

Shout-out to @lucascantor for contributions and @bnijenhuis for a brilliant recipe for automatic OpenGraph images which I ported to this version of the theme.

And now please excuse me, I gotta finally port all of that to my own blog. The shoemaker's children are ill-shod or so they say.

Recipe for a custom "live code" presentation:

- #11ty
- View transitions meta tag for crossfades (requires flags enabled on Chrome Canary)
- BroadcastChannel API to send navigation and other events from a separate "Notes" window
- Rety and Prism by @leaverou to simulate "live", syntax-highlighted typing (Rety is excellent, thanks for releasing it, Lea!)
- a bit of general hackery

I'm so used to cookie consent banners and GDPR tracking requests that it took me a good minute to understand that the huge white banner following me was in fact what I was looking for, the documentation for @eleventy #11ty 😅

An absolutely gigantic "Documentation for Eleventy" white button.

Below it, a tiny comment "Todd and Bruce said this button should be bigger and as you can see they were right.
The button is sticky and follows you around the page.

@DianaThompson Eleventy doesn't directly deal with accessibility. It allows a developer to create a static website. The developer has total flexibility with the ability to choose from several different templating languages to use for generating the HTML and CSS (and optional JS). Thus, the developer has to bring their own accessibility skills to the table to produce an accessible site using Eleventy. You might find this helpful. #eleventy #11ty https://www.11ty.dev/docs/accessibility/

@elly @elly I have #IndieKit installed on a test site and looks promising. But I don’t use it for my personal posts yet, so can't fully recommend. Contributions to the repo are sporadic but recent.

Added a couple of screenshots so you can get an idea of what the admin side looks like. It is setup to have syndication plugins, too.

Uses #IndieAuth, too!

https://getindiekit.com

I'm also interested in PESOS and seems like that concept would be a perfect combination with an automated #11ty build.

IndieKit bookmark editing UI. Note that syndication options. You can also push to the wayback machine. Other syndications can be created via plug-ins to the platform.
The main administration screen, showing you can create (and edit) posts that are saved to a database and GitHub, then syndicated out to social media feeds as you wish.

I think that fiddling with the design of the 11tybundle.dev site is nearing its end. I have been tweaking it long enough. It's back to being very simple. Now I can focus on identifying more content to add to it. As of now, we're up to 518 blog posts by 206 authors in 34 categories. #11ty #eleventy

Is there a way to override the hashing algorithm in `@11ty/eleventy-img` with something faster for development mode?

Reading the entire file contents for thousands of photos on each run is too slow, especially when cold starts are required so frequently.

I'm thinking that I need to make the default draft setting for my blog posts as 'true' so I'm forced to override the setting to publish something. I'm usually in the mode of forgetting to remove draft: true (or changing it to false) and wondering why my post isn't being published. My real fear is that I ever forget to add the draft setting to my post front matter at all and it gets published when I think it's a draft. There! I convinced myself that I'm going to do it. #11ty #eleventy

In the past, I've posted the 11ty Bundle blog post content here. Those posts were on my personal blog. Here's a link to the launch day post. Check it out and let me know what you think.

@renegadejade #11ty is great, builds fast, and let you decide when YOU need/want to add JS to the site, so builds fast sites by default.

Going to rebuild my personal/portfolio site from scratch as my old domain is deprecated anyway and starting fresh with the affirming renegadejade.com (bare, currently).

What’s the easiest #JAMstack static site generator/hosting option right now? Currently running Next.js on Vercel and still have a couple Jekyll sites on Netlify.

Thinking #11ty on GitLab pages this time around but I haven’t touched it yet.
