I also made a rotor, with Blender. I tried to create an "old worn shed" effect for the background. I worked on UV map this time. I unfolded a photo on the 3D model, but the photo of the rotor did not have the rusty appearance quite evident.

Came across a neat little technique in blender that really helps me work out a process between sketching and modelling. It makes use of the blender drawing feature called Grease Pencil and it's pretty useful. I sketched a simple armor set in front view, allowing me to quickly mess around with shapes, then model using it as a guide. Bonus is I can also draw along the surface of a model so I can again quickly play with ideas for details before committing. #blender #3dmodeling #scifiart

There are dozens of holsters that attach an AirTag to an Apple TV remote on Printables, but this one is mine.
The rest put the AirTag on the bottom, put the speaker firing inward so it's muffled, or are big and clunky. This one will sit flat on a table, has the AirTag firing outward, and is almost slender.
And yes, one of the family toddlers hid the old remote so well that we had to buy a new one. Barn door, post-horse, lock.

I joined Mastodon on its main instance a few days ago and last night, after checking out a bunch of furry instances, I decided to migrate to cyberfurz.social. I'm still figuring this out but I already like it way more than Twitter!
I'm a Virtual Reality enthusiast and I love social VR. In fact, that's what got me into 3D modeling. My main platform is VRChat!

"reverse rendering" derives a 3d surface from flat image. Instead of throwing a neural network at the problem it is based on theory of light, so it obtains physically meaningful parameters, and can guide further research.

I'm interested in learning 3D modeling software (solid modeling specifically), but I come from a slightly unusual place. I'm curious if anyone here has thoughts.
What I'd really like is basically Adobe Illustrator for 3D, but with one addendum: good dimensioning. I used to do graphic design and my new hobby is combat robotics. The most important use for me is 3D printing robot chassis.

I'm using this project as the catalyst to finally learn #Fusion360, and it's feels a bit like stating "I want to learn how to drive a boat" and Autodesk responded with "...the first step to crewing an aircraft carrier is..."
Slightly intimidating, but I think it will be worth the adventure. First exercise is modeling a simple box for the panel's base and getting it all the way to gcode without leaving the app. It took a few hours, but my printer is printing!
