I made a 3d model of Octo Friend (the plushie in my user pic)
I did it using photogrammetry, with Meshroom as the software.
My process was that I took 34 photos of them (33 of which ended up being used) and put those into the standard photogrammetry pipeline of Meshroom, rendering all the way through the MeshFiltering node. Then I edited the mesh to remove the extra surface that Octo Friend was sitting on, and the surroundings, leaving just Octo Friend as the mesh. Next, I added a MeshDecmiate node, simplifying to 1% of original polygons. I fed the result of that into the Texturing node, and out came the textured model. Since I did such a reduction in polygons, it was able to get it down to a single texture file while still being really detailed.
I also worked on a new spear that can damage multiple enemies around it when it explodes

Revision 2 of my base Ivy fascinator! This round I went with:
* a 28 cm diameter instead of 20 cm,
* lines that are 1 mm instead of 3 mm,
* spacing of 40 mm instead of 20 mm between the lines
The spacing and thinner lines are much closer to the effect I want for this fascinator. Unfortunately, I went a bit overboard on the diameter of the circle so I'll have to make another revision with the diameter in between the 20 cm and 28 cm attempts I've made so far.
You can see in picture two the difference in size between the 20 cm and 28 cm versions.

My 3D model of the base of Ivy's fascinator from Fire Emblem: Engage came out exactly as designed after being 3D printed. Unfortunately, after a few test pictures with the fascinator on, I've decided that I need to make some changes to the design.
For the next revision of this project, I plan on increasing the diameter of the fascinator by 5 cm, reducing the size of the lines from 3 mm to 2 mm, spacing the lines out more, and removing the filet from the grid. These changes will require a lot of fixes, but I'm hoping to print revision two tomorrow.

Fusion 360 has a steep learning curve. After 8 hours of struggling my way to success, on my third attempt to create this cosplay item, I was able to create a base model of Ivy's fascinator [headwear] from Fire Emblem: Engage.
The first major milestone of this project was creating a sketch of the fascinator in Fusion 360. I learned how to use the circle, dimension, concentric circle, offset, trim, and extend tools. The sketch was made the hard way. I did every piece one at a time instead of using batching tools because I kept making mistakes between selecting all of the edges and doing the action, which meant I had to select everything again. The finished sketch is shown in picture 1.
The second major milestone was extruding the model and fileting the top. Both extruding and fileting were new tolls to me. Again, I did this all the hard way by doing pieces only a small bit at a time, but I got there in the end and am happy with the product. The extruded model and fileting of the top is shown in picture 2.
The last major milestone was fileting the bottom of the model. The fascinator will sit directly against my face/forehead and I did not want sharp or cutting edges resting against my skin, so I fileted the edges. If there is not enough flat material on the printer bed, a lot of support material would be printed. Getting rid of support material and sanding down the model to get it smooth is not fun, so I've heard, so I only did a very small filet on the edges. The finished product is shown in picture 3.
I'm really happy with how the 3D model turned out and my 3D printer is currently printing it out. I hope it comes out as desired!

I'm interested in learning 3D modeling software (solid modeling specifically), but I come from a slightly unusual place. I'm curious if anyone here has thoughts.
What I'd really like is basically Adobe Illustrator for 3D, but with one addendum: good dimensioning. I used to do graphic design and my new hobby is combat robotics. The most important use for me is 3D printing robot chassis.

I'm using this project as the catalyst to finally learn #Fusion360, and it's feels a bit like stating "I want to learn how to drive a boat" and Autodesk responded with "...the first step to crewing an aircraft carrier is..."
Slightly intimidating, but I think it will be worth the adventure. First exercise is modeling a simple box for the panel's base and getting it all the way to gcode without leaving the app. It took a few hours, but my printer is printing!

I spent most of this evening just cleaning up this OpenSCAD file, making it more readable, renaming modules and variables, and adding comments.
When I'm done with this it will serve as the basis for enclosure design in the future.
It's parametric and has modules for most of the components I use as well as methods to easily add more.

I've been a long time proponent and participants in open source, starting I think back when I added Unicode #fonts support for #POVRay. Got sucked into Multimedia and some #3DModeling and animation #GameArt for one of the earlier large publishers. I stepped up my #OpenSource game by becoming one of the core developers then board members for #Inkscape. Got sidelined a bit, but getting involved again.
For day jobs I' slid into security. I've also picked up #3DPrinting & #OpenSCAD
