Can I just say I love the #homebrewing community!
Was contemplating setting up a savings plan for a $700+ Cannular machine for seaming cans of #homebrew in the future and came across this thread on the homebrewtalk forum. @EspetoHomebrew shared all his STL files and parts for a simple seamer.

Noti print from InPrintCondition
Printed on Bambu Labs X1 at 0.08 height
It's tiny. Apparently InPrintCondition just updated the files cause it was too small for scale so I will have to print it again to be more in scale with 6inch Black Series figures.

LOL... unbelievable, that speed! 😃

Well, it's been a year now since I have been sucked into 3d-printing, and yes... it is a "full-grown hobby".

Da hat sich jemand designtechnisch aber verdammt nah beim #BambuLab X1 orientiert. 😃
Aber sehr interessantes Konzept, mit den Linearmotoren.
Very long time since I've posted in this thread. Here's the newest Gunstar, sliced with Orca, at 99%. Looks good, and I think if it holds up, I'll be auctioning it with a stand.

And in the spirit of being a maker, I printed some excellent 3D models by Brian Kloppenborg to construct the all-sky camera. The models and full instructions are available at: https://kloppenborg.net/blog/all-sky-camera/enclosure-v1/
I did have to adjust the models a bit for a larger, 110mm diameter pipe.

Printed a phone case for my wife in TPU, it printed pretty good except for a few weird spots which I'm not sure what would have caused this. I'm not familiar with tpu at all. I know it needs to be dried and I have it in a dryer drying while it's printing. It's inland tpu.

Question for those who #3dprint - What are you using to design your models? I was using #Fusion360 which I quite like, but their hobbyist licence seems to have disappeared and there's no way I can justify £££s a year for a few (very) simple little builds.
Another #timelapse of a #3dprint. This is a part for a Yagi 2m antenna for #hamradio

Once again reminded how frustrating 3D printers are.
Somehow during the chaos of work, I started printing in TPU on my 3D printer. I printed a tpu screen cover for the Bambu labs, now printing a watch cover and some Caulk lids. What are some good tpu prints?

Not sure if anyone else has this issue, but I personally don't like having big giant empty boxes for the key caps I didn't need and I don't want to throw them all into a baggie.
A recent order I got of low profile keycaps came in a bag, and since I'm now done building the keyboard, I want a better way to store the key caps that is still small, but at least organized.
Anyway, I came up with this basic 3D print that is expandable and is friendly on most printers. I would like to revisit it to be slightly more optimal, but that's for another day.

FYI: https://bruceborrett.github.io/easy-enclosure/
Generates STL files for customized enclosures with varying dimensions, numbers of holes, PCB mounts and even seals.
New favourite #3DPrint done!
I've failed with this moon litophane a few times already, but this time everything worked out great. Even though I'd set the print speeds to extra slow my poor little cantilever #3DPrinter was vibrating something fierce once it started gaining some height (and weight). The result is absolutely stunning though!
Took a measly 60 hours (printed slow and at high quality)...
Great new nightlight for the little one.
Edit: forgot to say that it's 20 cm in diameter.

Its not done, but this is how its looking. #iterativeprototyping #3dprint #openhardware

Is there a way to make the purge stack in Bambu labs color change to another shape? Like can you make it print something useful that you don't care about with random colors?

I might need a 3D printer for my coffee needs….
Such a cool #technology, #reusing #coffee for #3dprint|ing
I don't talk much anymore about #3DPrinting, but truth be told, in the summertime (and given all those past heatwaves) my laboratory becomes unbearable (especially with a FDM printer on, or wearing the resin gear - mask and gloves)
Fingers crossed for colder times.
My favorite mathematician (we're married, I'm allowed to have a favorite!) is working to put together a crowd-sourced Julia Robinson Math Festival in a Box for local teachers to use to run a JRMF for their students. I thought that maybe I could #3DPrint some puzzle pieces for the spatial reasoning game of "Skyscrapers" (or "Towers") so I got out #FreeCAD and started modeling.
I couldn't figure out how to make the design I had in mind so you could just enter a parameter for the number of segments in a tower, so I ended up with lots and lots of parametrically-located clones of the three different kinds of parts of which the towers are comprised, boolean-fused together. I don't think anyone ever actually does this with more than 6, and in fact the JRMF uses only 5, so I didn't make any larger units.
I'll be printing these out, using a different color for each size, and will publish the files after I'm confident I'm done tweaking.

Ich glaube, genau das ist der Moment, wenn dein #3DDrucker fuer einen Druck mehr als 24h braucht, und du dir dann einen zweiten Drucker wuenscht, um „mal eben" Kleinteile drucken zu koennen. 🙈
Today Max’s Mobile Museum #M3 is at Estudillo Elementary School in San Jacinto, CA. Among the nearly 100 specimens on display is this “elbow-bone” (technically, the olecranon process of the ulna) from the extinct camel Camelops hesternus. It’s from the #Pleistocene of Temecula, and is covered with bite marks from a carnivoran. The images show the #3dprint in the Mobile Museum, and the original specimen @westernsciencecenter.

Well, #Turbine is in the making… 🤓

Oh, wow! What a bad move. I’m looking at you, #Prusa!
#BambuLab just opened its #Makerworld. To import models from other platforms they give you a verification URL, which you have to write into the bio text.
Well, Prusa is blocking Makerworld URL’s! What a shitty move! I tried many different URL’s, and all are working fine, but Makerworld is being blocked.
Bad! Very, very Bad Prusa! 😠😤
PS: Of course I wrote them an email.

Very interesting video interview by #CNCKitchen with #BambuLab's CEO Dr. Tao about the all new A1 mini.

Oh, wow! The biggest part of my new „Turbine“ loudspeaker needs 1.6kg filament! 😳

View of the exploded cross section of my speaker. At the moment, these are all parts.
BUT: I still need to figure out where I'm going to mount the terminal, and where I'm going to route cables through it.... 🤔
Any ideas?

Next iteration: No jet engine, but my 3D printed loudspeaker as an open, bass reflex system. I call it „Turbine“. 😃
I'm curious to see how it performs.

I hope I will not run out of filament - again... 😬

Call me a weird dude. But I love watching this machine! It's so great that something physical is created before your eyes, nearly out of "nothing", just from your own design. And all this is happening not in a factory building, but in my own home. It's always fascinating to me! 🥰

Very interesting. Same filament (Bambu Lab PLA-CF), different color. The black one turns out way more cleaner!
And I'll tell you why: the black was dried for 8 hours before use, the gray was not.
The little dots on the surface are „Random Seams“. It's no problem since the entire thing will be filled and sanded and painted anyway.

What I'm wondering right now is: How do I get the #Speaker balanced in terms of weight? The driver alone weighs 1.6Kg. The housing tapers towards the rear. That is, the whole thing is very nose-heavy! So I should put some weight "somewhere" in the back. But how? 🤔
Any ideas?

If I had a 3D printer I would 100% build a GBA-style emulation machine with a Raspberry Pi CM4 base. But, I would have 4 face buttons, two joycon-sized sticks (the GuliKit Hall Effect ones), and extra shoulder buttons. It would definitely be an interesting project. #emulation #retropie #gameboy #3dprint

Ultimately, I think my #3dprint failures yesterday were the result of a few factors:
1. My nozzle had somehow gotten a little loose, and filament had made it's way around the threads and was leaking around the top of the nozzle. This led to buildup on the nozzle quickly with blobs coming off, even causing a layer shift
2. The bed is slightly warped in the corners, meaning I had to make bed leveling offsets, something I've never messed with because I rarely print in the corners
All good now.
Introduction:
Hi! Hawkwinter here. New to mementomori.social.
I had been primarily using calckey.social the past while, (and some of the extra features their software adds are great) but they've been having frequent stability /usability issues that were making it hard to use, and Roni said I could set up here. I have nothing against the Firefish devs / admins on a personal level or anything, they seem quite nice from the bits we've interacted.
I'm also @Hawkwinter@mastodon.art - but I'm mostly trying to stick to using that for art-related stuff.
I do 3d character stuff, 2d graphic design and cartography stuff. A bit of 2d character art. Tech/it stuff. Programming. Working on a Visual Novel in Ren'py. I'd like to figure out how to make VRChat and VTuber avatars.
Not currently accepting commissions, but I would probably like to in the future.
I like TTRPGs? Particularly GURPS, & heavily homebrewed D&D3.x with Eclipse. Also Rolemaster 4e. Played other stuff over the years but those ones are my favorites.
For entertainment, I like Wuxia, and Xianxia, and the Forgotten Realms, and Tolkien.
I'm interested in sustainable longterm architecture (to last centuries, not decades), science and tech, passive heating and cooling systems, and high-efficiency masonry woodstoves. 'Fancy-offgrid'. Regenerative agriculture and watershed management is neat too.
I occasionally read some philosophy. Nietzsche has a few neat ideas on individual self improvement, but the Tao te Ching has neat ideas on other stuff, like a few ideas on how a functional society would work. I'm not going to pretend to be a well-read philosophy student though.
In addition to regular social-media-ing, Gamedev-type stuff might get posted from here sometimes too? I'm really not sure.
Anyway, here's some misc examples of my work in different mediums / styles. The custom in-game menu screenshot is a WIP. I've been doing a good bit of reprogramming and extending things under the hood.
Cheers!

Hi! Hawkwinter here.
Been on Calckey.social a couple days but haven't made an intro post yet.
I'm not brand-new to Fedi, but new to Calckey & been really liking it here the past couple days for general social-media-ing {mostly Friendica before, it wasn't bad but I think I like Calckey better}, You can also find me periodically posting art from .art @Hawkwinter@mastodon.art

Curious about HERO & HARNMaster. If I'm going to Shadowrun I like 4e best by a wide margin. Not a big D&D 5e fan. I have a gripes with its mechanics and setting game design. Super rules-lite games aren't really my thing either as you could guess from my list of favorites - I like the ones where it feels like I'm running around in {or simply running if I'm GM} a simulated world with humanlike NPC behavior {to preempt the question of 'Why not just videogames'}. I'm aware my RPG tastes are niche, & that's okay.
For entertainment, I also like Wuxia, and Xianxia, and the Forgotten Realms, and Tolkien.

Like a lot of the people here, I think my worldview has become a bit more collectivist at the societal level rather than hyper-individualist with indifference to the exploitative capitalism we have now, though I don't think violent revolution is a good idea, instead favoring building out collective networks of people that takes care of its members and federates with similar collectives and then can lobby the government also as a collective unit rather than leaving individuals to fend for themselves against the rich and the powerful, is a better way to go. (Something like guilds. Or a labor union not dependent on having a specific job, or like how I've seen Jehovahs Witnesses have their own sub-society of networking and helping eachother out that's not always for-profit).
I occasionally read some philosophy. Nietzsche has a few neat ideas on individual self improvement, but the Tao te Ching has neat ideas on other stuff, like a few ideas on how a functional society would work. I'm not going to pretend to be a well-read philosophy student though.
