More upgrades to the Prusa Mini. It now has an OctoDash with a Waveshare 4.3" DSI screen, and the Pi Camera 1 has been replaced with a Pi Camera 3 wide-angle. The garage light is currently off, this is just illuminated with the ring light, but you now get visibility of the sticker wall (yay), the full range of the print bed and the spool.

I'm happy with that. For now.

First print done, the camera is exaggerating the lines a bit. Is there anything right off the bat that more experienced #3dprinting people think I could change to do better?

Well, the honeymoon period with ABS is over. I designed a model that really loves to warp during printing! Vision Miner couldn't hold it down, it lifted a raft right off. Will need to get creative for this one.

I made my first original design to 3D print! A simple L bracket to stabilise my new shelving. The side for the shelf has chamfered holes for screws and the side on the wall is flat for using command strips (super strong and easy to remove double sided adhesive foam).

I feel like I don’t have the mind for CAD but I’m glad I managed this anyway! Baby steps.

I got this ok-legible 3mm high letters with Prusa Slicer's stock DRAFT 0.3mm profile without any tweaking. (room for improvement I guess)

Just found some stick-on Magsafe rings on Amazon and designed a quick holder in preparation for AppleTV/Facetime Continuity camera thing. I tried mocking up something like this years ago by putting an iPad in front of the TV and setting it to Airplay to the TV, but it was pretty clunky.

Looking forward to this iteration. My only doubt is about the audio with the mic on the iPhone across the room.

First print hot (well, cool) off my new Wham Bam FBS PEX Flexi Build Plate for the X1C and omg! The difference!

I’m used to PEI on my MK2.5 and haven’t used gluestick since my Duplicator I3. After needing glue on the cool plate, I remember why i disliked it.

Thinking of picking up a Prusa Mk3 soon as my very first introduction into 3d printing, what are your favorite 3d printing projects?

I just tried #OrcaSlicer for the first time, I've just not had time to test it until now.

Because it was based on #PrusaSlicer, #SuperSlicer, and #Slic3r, I hoped that I could just import my PrusaSlicer config, but could not because it expected a .json file and PrusaSlicer outputs a .ini, but I might have done this incorrectly.

So I configure a "Generic Klipper setup" and copied the values by hand by comparing settings with my PrusaSlicer setup and a bit of experience and intuition.

My first resulting print, a custim part by me compared to the PrusaSlicer, was worlds apart. The finish was greatly improved with bridges requiring no supports, however it did print a bit slower, 28 minutes instead of 18 minutes, but this might still just be speed settings.

I like the UI, although I am more used to PrusaSlicer, and I especially love that I can access #Mainsail and #Klipper from within the app.

Two months ago, I tackled a fairly involved #3DPrinting project...an electric #guitar

My plan was to assemble it, tune it up, and play it a little. When I was a teenager, I learned how to play guitar but never took it much further than when I graduated high school.

Building the guitar sparked a renewed interest in learning to play again. The 3D printed instrument is good but playing it is not the same as a real guitar.

I've always like the style of a Les Paul so yesterday, I stopped by a local music store and picked up an Epiphone Les Paul Custom.

I'm taking lessons online and have been thoroughly enjoying it! A lot of what I learned decades ago is coming back to me. My fingers and hands hurt but it's a good pain that I'm sure will eventually fade.

Going to the NEC in Birmingham tomorrow, for the #tct3sixty event - basically a trade show around #3dprinting and related technologies. Sad there aren’t any hobbyist level shows in this space on the horizon in the UK (that I know of, at least), but willing to take a look at this.

A Daruma-inspired container/dice holder from Loot Studios. This seems like it would’ve taken multiple days on my older printers. Not only did these two parts finish in one day, I actually had to print the top half twice because the first had bad supports.

The problem with having good-quality prints so quickly is that now I have to learn how to clean up and paint them!

Wow, #Reddit (cw: lots of nsfw) will kill #Apollo (and all 3rd party apps) by introducing a Twitter-esque absurd API pricing, which would cost Apollo’s single dev US$20M/yr (!) to keep running.

I guess I’m quitting Reddit… 1st party apps (Web and mobile) are UX garbage. I can only tolerate modern Reddit with Apollo (which I paid for)!

Early #3dprinting experiments from the Bambu Lab P1P using their included filament, two beardy fantasy guys from Loot Studios, and the tiki idol that the Bradys blamed for all their failures and misfortunes, from Thingiverse.

I understand the criticisms of 3D printing in general, and Bambu Lab specifically, but it’s such a luxury to have a printer that just works with almost no hassle, and produces really nice results. Can’t wait to start printing my own models again.

I've really enjoyed the disc-based planners I've seen people use but I've balked at the price of supplies.

I've designed discs that are compatible with said planners and even a 1/2 US letter page cover that can be #3dprinted

The cost of printing the rings is about 1/10 of the commercial versions and are fully parametric allowing one to make any size binder disc or protector sheet they wish.

A note, if you need to change filament while #3dprinting and the print was initiated via octoprint, your safest bet is octoprint's pause button, and NOT the printer's!

Octoprint will not receive the Pause command from the printer display and will continue to send gcode. Worse, it may cause odd states where the extruder and heaters are "paused", but the print still continues.

My 12 year old son made an Aztec pyramid for history class using some simple CAD software. Of the class, he tied for best grade and got it 3D printed.
