I'm starting to warm up to The Beach Boys a little I feel, these albums feel more pleasant to listen to to me than Pet Sounds, but I might relisten to the latter to make sure. Vegetables was nice, with the chomping sounds, Good Vibrations had good vibes, and Darlin' was very good too.

In seinem gestrigen Post auf Facebook zur Raumpatrouille hat Michael Köhler auch 7 Farbfotos (6 im Post, 1 im Kommentar) veröffentlicht. Darunter auch ein Bild mit Eva Pflug, das mir zumindest bis dato noch nicht bekannt war. Die Bildquelle ließ sich über die Google-Bildersuche nicht ermitteln. Es handelt sich offenbar um ein Promo-Bild, möglicherweise entstanden im Umfeld der Dreharbeiten 1965. Auffällig an dem Bild sind Markierungen am oberen, linken und unteren Bildrand. Unten findet sich zudem folgender, auf dem Kopf stehender Schriftzug: "482 KODAK 102 SAFETY - FILM". Dass der Name des verwendeten Films am Bild verbleibt, habe ich so noch nicht gesehen. Möglicherweise handelt es sich bei den Markierungen um Bildfehler, die bei der Aufnahme entstanden sind. Oder es war ein Versehen beim Entnehmen des Films aus der Kamera oder beim Entwickeln. So oder so ist das Bild in dieser Form m.E.eine Rarität.

The mid #60s were a great period for visual science fiction that was made to be accessible by a wide audience demographic.
One of the reasons that #StarTrek stood out over its competitors was that it could do all cool things they could and more. One week could be time travel, the next an encounter with bizarre monsters, all the while underpinned by both (found) family and quasi military bonding. Cool models and special effects were a constant.

Or rather: I just finished playing this, I play so much now that I am studying again. This album starts off loud and obnoxious - love the first track - but gets very improv later on, and at some point I thought my speakers weren't working anymore. There's a lot to unpack in this album and certainly deserves more listens.

My first true musical obsession was with #PaulSimon and his collaboration with #ArtGarfunkel, that was when I was about 10. When I excitedly told my classmates about them I mostly got bombastic side eye, but luckily my teacher was fond of them and made us all translate Bridge Over Troubled Water for English class. Fondest memory of elementary school for me.

Don't get me wrong: I like the album, I just need to get it. Soon...

Johnny Dorelli - “Con Lui, Con Me” (1967)
This is a super cool, very retro sounding song by Italian singer and TV personality Johnny Dorelli. It’s a cover of a 60’s-sexist anthem by Andy Williams called “Music to Watch Girls By”.
But this version is just wonderfully kitsch. Dorelli is so emotive, and the music improves on the original imho. Kinda corny, but still really fun and upbeat.
I got this from a compilation CD released in 2004 called “Stasera Shake”, a wonderfully done collection of go-go and mod dance-floor numbers from the Italian scene of the 1960’s.

One of the shittier things I've discovered living in a house from the late #60s is the nooks for the radiators. In my neck of the woods, we build brick houses with an outer and an inner wall, separated by ~10cm of isolation. My radiator nooks are apparently the exception - here there is only one wall with a gracious 1cm of foam isolation. If you view the outside of the house with an infrared camera during winter, I'm sure you'll get blinded looking at my radiators. Anyhoo, since we're replacing the radiators I thought this would be a great time to add an additional - although humble - 30mm of isolation. Easy but somewhat time consuming project:
Remove radiators
Even out existing wall
Cut plaster/isolation panels to size
Mount frames for panels
Mount panels (glue's your friend)
Apply fine putty
Sand
Apply more fine putty
Sand
Apply glass felt
Apply glass felt filler
Paint
Probably paint again
Apply grout
Bask in the glory

I had a Gilligan-themed bedroom complete with my bed made into a "hut". I made cups out of coconuts. I went as Jonas "The Skipper" Grumby for Halloween. I had a personalized autographed photo from Bob Denver.
I was a strange kid, but I still catch it on digital substations from time to time.
