While on the subject, AAPD has a call out for testimonials to the US Dept of Justice as to how web inaccessibility affects you. Comments need to be received by Oct 2: https://aapd.quorum.us/campaign/51385/
NVDA pronounces intersectionality as "intersectional iddy." Not great for a multiple choice quiz answer.
Expanding Your Touch Targets: "It works differently in each browser, but the end result is the same: Browsers kind of expand the tap target to assist users who are unable to click perfectly given the combination of their circumstances and abilities." #a11y https://www.stubbornella.org/2023/09/17/expanding-your-touch-targets/

What is the EU Web Accessibility Directive? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Accessibility_Directive #eu #a11y #law
I liked this point made by Michele Lucchini and Jeff Adams of UsableNet in a webinar earlier this month.
95% sounds like a great score. But is it good to have 95% compliance with accessibility standards, if that last 5% includes a keyboard trap that prevents users from completing the use case for your website?

Oh, fun. Paragraph containing strong tag in side a heading element.

I've personally never seen a case where an accessibility overlay didn't make the accessibility of a website worse than it would have been without the overlay.

Cool tool shared by an attendee at WordPress Accessibility Day: Contrast Grid.

Could be a great helper when building out a color palette.

Oh SHIT! Has anyone considered how the new UI changes regarding trailing #hashtags might affect #disabled #visuallyImpaired folks? Is there something in the code which excludes that from screen readers? Taking a glance at the HTML, it doesn't look like it!

Survey: Attitudes to Digital Accessibility 2023 https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Attitudes-Survey-2023 #a11y #survey
Quick question for screen reader users because I have seen different opinions on this but not all of those opinions have been from people who use screen readers so I don't really know which way to go with this.
If I post an image that is, say, a screenshot of a wall of text, and it is important that all of that text be transcribed, what do you prefer? The transcription to be in the alt text, or to be in a followup post?
(Just for extra info, when I've done the second option, I've usually done something like "screenshot of a post by Whoever, transcription in replies", so it's still clear what the image is and that a transcription exists)
Also please, if you do not use a screen reader at all, refrain from voting. I want to hear what helps people who need it the most.

Tu as des pistes ?

“Accepting the full social status of people with disabilities, understanding their digital accessibility needs, and creating websites and applications that meet those needs is the only way to ensure equality and equity. That requires properly remediating accessibility issues in existing websites and applications, and – perhaps more importantly – building accessibility into future digital projects.”
