I gather that each #SoC has a unique set of modems and gpus for which a custom build of Android must be used, but Windows systems come in millions of configurations and they just load drivers on the fly

When a process calls fdSend, Ethos first checks whether the running process is authorized
to run the particular virtual process specified by the system call. Ethos then checks the user
record to determine if the target virtual process is already running. If not, Ethos creates it by
allocating the process’ page tables, switching to the process’ address space, setting the process’
UID to the appropriate public key, loading the program image into memory, nullifying all file
descriptor table entries, and allocating a heap and stack. Finally, Ethos adds the fdSend file descriptor tuple argument to the virtual process’ incoming fdReceive queue. Ethos will then
schedule the virtual process which can obtain the file descriptors by calling fdReceive
SPIN allows applications to specialize the OS kernel using extensions . Type safety
allows SPIN to dynamically link extensions into the kernel while isolating other kernel data
structures. SPIN extensions are written in #Modula-3. Exokernels likewise maximally embody
the end-to-end argument . This has been shown to provide performance benefits, for example
by allowing applications to interact more directly with network interfaces . #Unikernels are

I have an old Chromebook that just lost all it's updates (Like last month, Aug 2023 was when support ended for it).
I tried to put Linux on it, but turns out it is ARM based (if I would have know that when I bought it I wouldn't have bout it).
I did get PrawnOS Arm64 to install, but WiFi doesn't work.
Anyone know of any other #ARM based OSes that might work?
Most of the ARM based distros seem to be centered around the Raspberry PI & don't even boot on this thing.

On the summer of 2018, hot on the heels of #riscv movement, #MISP / Wave came out that they, too, are embracing open source, and plan to make some of their ISAs *and* designs freely usable and downloadable.
I pre-registered for that, only to receive a pushback when the program started: they need my company/employer, address and phone numbers.
They didn't quite understand what a hobbyist is, and what they can do for them if they didn't alienate them...
Now #arm wouldn't do that... right?

Just ordered a keyboard connector fixing kit for it. While it is not broken (yet), it makes removing and re-connecting the keyboard easier with no risk of causing damage.
Oh, and battery and leaking caps were taken care of years ago already. 🙂

Here's my #Acorn A3020. Currently has 2 MB RAM, a 250 MB HDD and a 386sx PC emulator card installed.
Sadly, I somehow blew up the mouse port some time ago, which now needs to be fixed. Also need to get the RAM upgraded to 4 MB.
