I love to hike trails and look for birds. This was several years ago in the far south of TX, the only USA area Olive Sparrows can be found. Usually they are heard & not seen but this one wanted the water. First just a drink and then it plunged itself full in for a bath!

The Olive Sparrow is a towhee-like sparrow with a long tail and heavy beak. It's gray underneath and olive green on the back and head along with brown stripes on its head. This one came out of the underbrush to a water puddle for a drink of water.
