The tall structure cast a shadow on the surrounding houses, a reminder of the region’s long history of steel production. The nearby blast furnace was torn down in 2016. The Blue Tower/Orange Factory followed it into memory with its demolition in 2021.

There is an old oak tree known as the Chained Oak that stands in the woods of northern England. Ancient, sturdy chains have been wrapped around the tree limbs. As well as being a beautiful tree in a stunning part of England, the tree plays a key role in an interesting piece of English folklore.

An abandoned palatial villa in Portugal, built in the early 20th Century by a successful Portuguese businessman. The most eye-catching part of the room for me was the bold stripe floor, crafted with wood imported from Brazil.
#Nature is always waiting in the wings to reclaim what we have taken. A smashed window or a collapsed roof is all it takes, a small opening for plant life to enter and take root. In my opinion, the most beautiful #abandonedplaces are those that are being Reclaimed by Nature🌿
