Thinking it’s time I worked on an #ableton remote script for the beatstep pro. Mostly just need device and mixer control.

@JamesDBartlett3 I am a long time #bitwigstudio user. 😜
@plaimbock and I have been talking about the fact that #ableton are shipping a #linux version of Live with their new Push (not available to the public except for running on Push) and that it could be a great driver for third-party plugin availability on Linux if they (just like Bitwig) officially made Live available for #linuxaudio.
Managed to install Ableton Live 9, not too much drama, but trying to authorise it? I'm being told to get fucked, being given a link tto unlock more authorisations that redirects to the main ableton account page, and I use "Lite" which means no fucking access to zendesk support from the cunts, even though I gave them fucking money!!!!
I'm so pissed rn, fuck your stupid licensing bullshit fuck, fucking cunts.
Anyone here able to uh, offer any advice here?
@plaimbock I can second that. Many shy away from #linuxdesktop #fragmentation whereas they could start off like e.g. #uhe, by offering #linuxaudio builds with limited support. Quite a bunch mentioned that their #framework would not allow #linux builds. #d16, #moog and #rhodes at least said that they would eventually bring Linux support in the near future. Time will tell. ☺️ If #ableton would release their #linux version of #live to the public that could give vendors new motivation too, I think.
Another check off the bucket list! 🥰
I was reached out to by Son Lux (Everything Everywhere All At Once composers) to remix for the 10th anniv of their 2013 hit release, Lanterns.
Needless to say I was floored by the request. I had 2 weeks to make it so don’t dig too harshly on the mix, and please give this record many spins! ❤️
On the 5th day of the #LowRezGameJam I'm focusing mostly on music. Almost all sound effects are done, and I will be abroad for the next 3 days. So let's get these tracks done!
For the menu theme, I borrowed part of the melody from the battle theme, changing the harmony, tempo and rhythmic part.
I reused the instruments, but with minor changes.
Still buzzing from the album launch stream last night, thanks again everyone for stopping by!
But now, it's time for the next installment in our start to finish #neurofunk series!
I'll be live in 10 min (11am UTC) working on the tune we started last week, come on by!
That's crazy, I've been able to post for 3 weeks in a row on my blog :D When did I become so reliable?
Well, not yet, because I almost forgot to post today, so I'm 4 hours late anyway.
But it feels good to be consistent, so let's celebrate! https://diskoverymusic.wordpress.com/2023/08/04/from-jam-to-jam/
Also, I'm recording my daily progress (all sound design today). It's really just a way for me to be consistent, and it works.
Moving on with my Chiptune learning, I decided to learn by doing, so I enrolled in the Lowrezgame jam, where you have to make a game with a resolution of 64x64.
So far I made a simple tune and some sound effects. I didn't keep in mind the #ShowYourWork while doing the sound design, so I lost some steps. Sorry about that.
The first episode of my new youtube series is out tomorrow!
Pretty proud of this first episode, it's the first proper video editing I've done, so it's much snappier than the usual live stream videos. Excited to see what you think!
In a more traditionally musical vein, my These Damn Birds! EP is a perennial favorite among a certain subset of fans. These three tracks are arguably among my most musical and easy to listen to -- a good entry point if my more esoteric work leaves you scratching your head.
I keep revisiting this track every few weeks, it started as just playing with specific synths, LFOs and algorithmic filters to create movement, and i'm fond of the core idea in there.
But also, I feel like I don't want to add to it either, and so, I am posting it so I can move on, as a Demo. It was really fun to make.

A belated #introduction :
We are Endless Blue, a #TripHop duo (and sometimes band) from San Marcos, CA by way of Milwaukee and Minneapolis. We’ve been at this for just shy of 20 years, self-producing numerous albums, appearing on several indie #soundtracks , and playing a bunch of shows. Our music is on all the things, but mostly here:
I just dropped a new song called “Remember Myself”!
I’d love to hear your honest opinions. It’s heavy “in your face” experimental music, so if that’s not your style then this may not be for you!
It’s my first time using jungle drums and playing a piano part.
Full song here: https://songwhip.com/kilamanzego/remember-myself
Today I worked on something different than usual. I tried generating pesudo-random patterns for a new track.
Almost everything has a randomic component, supported by a solid backbone (the pads are regular, while the kick & clap only rarely play off beats).
I wanted to see how much I could get out of this: a decent arrangement in just a few hours. Of course I'll have to do some editing, but it's a good starting point!

Ideal for #Cakewalk users looking to switch.
It does not fit my $0 budget, however, but thought I'd share.
Today I finished mixing one of my favourite tracks that I produced. It was my most difficult mix so far, getting all the drums and the bass right took me a lot of effort, but I'm very satisfied. ⚡
I like this electronic-orchestral sound, so I'd be curious to listen to someone else's works of a similar genre.
I re-uploaded the mixed track on soundcloud, let me know what you think about it ❤️
#AudioMo: Welcome to the Shift R trick.
I play stuff, I shift R it, I hope it’s OK.
This is a track-stack with two Keyscape sounds, the Double Felt Grand, and the Dulcitone.
Shift R in #Logic is basically like the capture option in #Ableton, IE: even when the transport is stopped, it will capture what you recorded and add it to the focused MIDI track. Doesn't work with audio.
For me, the more I can NOT be glued to a general purpose computer that's wearing a beard and pretending to be a music studio, the better.
I've just spent the last three hours on the Push3 and it's a huge thing to not touch a mouse or trackpad for 3 hours of my working day.
I love computers/I hate computers.
New album out now!. It's a tribute to French artist Moebius and his masterwork the Airtight Garage 😃

I know they've been working on this for a very long time but for 2023 choosing Intel as the platform for an embedded thing feels like a very odd choice.
Pricing looks ridiculous until you look at similar-ish alternatives, I think it is not for me but it is not super unreasonably priced.

I had a wonderful time presenting my Ableton workflow in Omaha this past weekend!
I also got the opportunity to spend time in a studio downtown called Make Believe thx to my friend Andy with support from Kethro (pictured below), and I recorded guitar for my EP. Overall 10/10 experience!
New composition for an indie rhythm game coming later this year.
They wanted an arcade/boss fight type of tune with various phases. I used sounds from various arcade chipsets for this, Namco, Irem, some FM, replicated in Ableton's various synth engines

Slowly but surely delving into MIDI! Not sure why I didn't dive into it before, the scope of what you can now do with it musically is amazing, and all from one keyboard. It's brilliant for my more energy--limited and physically challenged days.
I've been experimenting with it all in Ableton, and I feel like a kid in a candy store - so many instruments!!! 😁 🤩
I'm not trying to be mean. People need help. They may be mixing on bad equipment, they may have hearing issues. They need to know what the issues are, and what the standards are IN THIER GENRE for what constitutes a "good mix." As @mxtthxw observed: "Does the song feel good? Can you hear everything? If yes, cool!"
I'll have to continue the rest of this thread after I get some sleep (and if there's still interest).
I have run out of spoons.
Oh, and here's a meme I think my fellow #MusicProducers can relate to:
