Months later, however, Michigan progressives won a major battle against the extremists when they passed an amendment — Proposal 3 — to the state constitution to guarantee a woman’s right to choose.
But, this year, additional abortion rights in Michigan are threatened by those opposing the “Reproductive Health Act,” a package of 11 bills in the state legislature. These foes seek to maintain unnecessary regulations designed to discourage choice.

I read the finalist short stories for #TheHugoAwards. It's not a great year, with only one story I really liked.
"Rabbit Test", by Samantha Mills, was clearly inspired by the repeal of Roe vs. Wade. Saletan notes that no one is closer to the situation than a pregnant person, and if you are going to argue that states should decide how to handle abortion because they're closer to the people, then you must go further and say that a pregnant person is closer than anyone to the situation.

Since the fall of Roe and the state banning #abortion, the West #Alabama Women’s Center has pivoted to full spectrum OBGYN #healthcare, for a largely impoverished patient population.
They recently spent $5,000 on 10 IUDs, for which they’ll recoup about $150 each, maximum, if patients are insured. Most are not. (Alabama has not expanded Medicaid.)
