This painting is being done in what I call my "old" style, or the one I used before developing natural process painting. It is very linear, using bold, mostly curving lines against a more solid background, which in this case is a wash of greys and black. The bold lines are simply brushed on with metallic gold acrylic paint, rather than being laid down in layers like a natural process painting would be, but many of the forms within can be said to be similar.

This work in progress detail image is definitely in the warm end of the color spectrum, which if you haven't seen it might be hard to conjure in your mind, but you can imagine it like this: color is part of a larger wavelength spectrum, which isn't about color, but about the size of the waves, and the distance between them.

It sounds esoteric to refer to colors in terms of "vibration", but that's indeed what they are! As such, this painting can be said to have a decidedly "warm" vibration.

But the color is just a dressing for what's really going on in this painting detail - which is the texture. Many organic-looking "plateaus" can be seen in the lower portion of the image, arching upwards like the crest of an ocean wave, until it spirals back onto itself. Above the arc of the spiral are large, flat areas that are periodically interrupted by what appear to be mountain ranges.

The overall effect is one of dynamic motion, and awe at the complexity of organic form.
