🇬🇷 This is how the German architect & painter Leo von Klenze imagined the ancient Acropolis of Athens in 1846.
As an architect, von Klenze was one of the most prominent representatives of the Greek Revival style.
The construction of the most important buildings on the Acropolis began in the fifth century BC. It suffered significant damage during the 1687 siege by the Venetians.
