Good message about the season; it's not for everyone. There are parts I don't care for...
But I came here about the xmas movie thing. Before last year, my favourite xmas movie was a toss-up between Die Hard and The Ref (1994).
But as of last xmas, it is undoubtedly Violent Night (2022). Highly recommended, especially for those who aren't thrilled with the season.

I have FINALLY finished #reading as #audiobook Executive Orders by Tom Clancy (#book 7, 8, or 9 /Jack Ryan #books, depending on the source). I had to take a long break to finish this 50hr #action #thriller. Amazing & creepy that this was written pre-9/11 & pre-Covid. I was bored by the political speeches & unethical journalists. This morning we found out that the new DeSantis-appointed Sheriff, Emery Gainey, has unilaterally backtracked on the County Commissions’ April vote to make all phone calls from the jail free and unlimited. A historic vote that promised to reconnect families and reduce jail recidivism by removing one of the many financial burdens. This was what hundreds of people from our community demanded.
Now Sheriff Gainey has decided, without public input, to create new protocols on prisoners’ access to the phones. The jail’s surprise policy not only backtracks on Sheriff Watson’s promise to meet the free unlimited phone call implementation, but also further reduces prisoners’ access to daily phone calls. This new policy caps the total number of calls per day to just two and even removes the option for people to pay for additional calls.
The Jail has no data to prove there will be an issue with unrestricted access to the phones. Prisoners know how to share and allow the next person in line a turn at calling their loved ones.
In April, many of us met at the county commission meeting to share the positive impact of free phone calls and the overwhelming financial cost on families. We now need your help AGAIN to pressure the Sheriff into keeping the promise made to those in their care and to the hundreds of families financially burdened by the cost of talking to their loved ones.
Prisoners already had unlimited access to the phones. The only difference now is that calls are free because of community collaboration and support. Don’t let Sheriff Gainey lead a false narrative that unlimited calls are not possible.
