Discovering the synergy between #SystemTheory and #Agile practices can lead to transformative results! System theory helps us understand complex systems as interconnected wholes. In #Agile, it can aid in visualizing how various elements - teams, processes, tools - interact to deliver value. For instance, System thinking can streamline inter-team communication, making the Agile Release Train more efficient! #SAFe #Scrum #ART #ValueDelivery 🚀🔗

Navigating personal and professional relationships without trust is like sailing a ship without a compass. Trust absence can lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and ultimately, relationship breakdowns. It hampers open communication, stifles creativity, and impedes growth. In a professional setting, it can even impact productivity and team morale. Let's foster an environment of trust, transparency, and respect. #trust #relationship #communication #productivity #agile
Looking at agile through the eyes of a designer, it’s easy to spot the problem: the dogma of shipping small stuff fast so that you can gather feedback on what to do next more quickly. Agilists believe that finished software is not only the best way to deliver value, but also the best way to learn and iterate.
In reality, it is probably the worst way.
#UXDesign #ProductDesign #Agile
https://uxdesign.cc/successful-iteration-requires-going-beyond-agile-81ef0bc80798
Two things I keep wondering about:
1) It is emphasized that the method is for smaller teams, but it seems that the authors of the agile manifesto worked for large corporations and seemed to have been quite prestigious already. So for smaller projects but in large corporations, maybe?
2) There is an absence of design, UX and end-users in the methodology; there is a "customer" who has changing wishes to which one needs to react, but that’s not the person using it, but paying for it.
Respond to change over following a plan.
But responding to change does not mean dropping work at a moment's notice when you register the whims of customer, customer support, business, or a domain expert.
A Sprint can be short, to be able to respond to market insights: especially if your business model is to disrupt your market.
But have some respect for your ability to envision a meaningful change through a unit of work that constitutes a better outcome.
The world does not need "new work"
The world needs "free work" - organizations that are run in a way to free human beings from the shackles of paternalism, coercion and command-and-control. People are made for freedom. People deserve freedom.
#BetaCodex means designing organizations for human freedom.

What it says on the tin. Focus on the shit to be done, split it into small pieces of shit to be done, no need to estimate, because it needs to be done.
Organization-wide agility does not require #AgileScaling, of course. It requires coherent decentralization and a set of principles that covers way more ground than the so-called #Agile Manifesto". The good news: Such a set of principles already exists.

For the past 6 months, I've been an interim Product Owner next to my job as a developer, and I don't recommend the amount of context switching that entails. A PO should mainly be busy with the puzzle of combining possible product directions amidst uncertainties and dependencies, whereas a developer should mainly be busy with the problems at hand. Of course a PO needs to validate progress and a dev needs to anticipate, so there is an overlap, but the focus is different. #dev #po #agile #scrum
I've been quiet here, busy working on some personal projects.
I just got roped into conducting a half-day workshop on "Agile Leadership."
Personally, I think that term is a bit of a joke, but what do you think would be valuable to cover for people at the Director level?
A colleague posted this on LinkedIn. I wanted to share here and post some questions:
What are the levels of #scram ?
How scrammy do you have to be to land a good job?
If I scramble things daily, can I get #scram points?
I could go on, but I'll leave it up to the fediverse to add other important questions.
So many people associate #agile with the notion of going faster, 'stepping on the gas', but that points at a fundamental misunderstanding of the power of agile - it's the steering wheel, not the accelerator. Being responsive to feedback, course correcting with new information, pulling up and 'getting out' all come from an agile mindset and way of working. Don't let anyone tell you differently. More here https://architectelevator.com/transformation/agile-steering/
OMG!
"Scaled Agile is considering expanding the treatment of AI within the #SAFe framework".
Now they start to assimilate weird stuff into that so-called #Agile Scaling Framework.
What does #AI have to do with scaling Agile? Do they wanna make PO/PM feed a Chatbot to get User Stories and Features more efficiently?
In other cases they also don't really care for Technologies.
Again this seems like utilizing another hype topic to promote that crap.

Is there a (oral) history of agile development (particularly scrum)? There are many interesting assumptions in the concept and methods, and I am curious what shaped them
The idea that a work group can only be effective if it can manage its own coordination - often called #selforganization nowadays - can be traced back at least to the 1960's (Emery and Trist).
That's more than four decades before the #agile manifesto and it was not seen as a goal, but as a necessity.
@joeposaurus found this in my meme folder, seems relevant after our discussion this morning ;)
can anyone recommend some #agile and #kanban training in #Melbourne?
There is a contradiction at the heart of lowercase-a #agile - it wants to simultaneously deliver value (be right) and learn (be wrong). As a result of trying to do both, it often succeeds at neither.
The remedy is to untangle discovery from delivery - with #UX methods that are more effective at managing rapid feedback loops.

Here's the thing: the "original waterfall methodology paper" (which does not even use the word Waterfall) advocated for an iterative approach to software development. Unfortunately, nobody got past figure 2 of 10 and the DOD compounded the problem by turning the misconception into a standard. In other words, Agile is nothing new. It is a rediscovery borne out of not practicing RTFM. #agile #waterfall #softwaredevelopment
everyone reply to this toot with bad #Agile pickup lines
It seems.... too easy. I'll start:
Oh yeah, baby, I'd like to prioritize that backlog.
I appreciate #agile software development practices. Nonetheless I question the common narrative of the past when the waterfall was supposed to have ruled the land.
Effective developers have been using iterative software development practices long before agile emerged. Waterfall processes were advocated by some, and I am sure some teams tried to apply them, but the "in the past, we all used waterfall and the people suffered" sounds too much like a story, not history.
🪦 The death of Agile
➥ @allenholub
You can't process your way out of communication problems. #agile
if you think about it, #agile is an ideology that claims that if you hire some coaches and have each developer devote extra hours each week exclusively to management issues, you can become as productive in any language ecosystem as you would be in #lisp, excluding those extra hours developers have to dedicate to keeping up with the whole thing.
Thinking back to my "Unlearning How To Write" talk from this year's Agile on the Beach, I already have some ideas about how I could improve it just that touch more 🤔 <Insert something about continuous improvement here 😉.>
