#GeorgeLucas was set to direct it, but the production languished and he decided to do a little pet project instead. Something called #StarWars.

#JohnMilius wrote the screenplay, frustrated he couldn't go to #Vietnam because of his asthma. His early drafts ran over 1000 pages. If you're a #screenwriter you just fell off your chair.

#FrancisCoppola took over from Lucas and then nearly went insane directing a masterpiece.

It's official, the original theatrical release is the far superior version of all I've seen.

#FinalCut also has the useless and thoroughly unbelievable interlude in the #French plantation as #Redux (possibly edited differently).

#Coppola really wants to make a point that he already made in 1979.

The music is also bad. I'll finish it though, I'm going all the way into this heart of crapness.

I saw the original version (and at least one rerelease) and #Redux in the theater when each was released, and now for my first watch of #TheFinalCut #4K #UHD release of #ApocalypseNow on my nice #Sony 42" 4K tv.

Finally got the #4K #UHD 40th anniversary 6 #disc set of #ApocalypseNow from #BestBuy.

I only recently found out this existed, probably because in #2019 I was still struggling to recover from the temporary #quadriplegia that hit me in #January #2018 (and still affects me).

#WakandaForever (preordered) prompted me to finally buy a 4K disc player; I gave away all physical media and my #DVD player when I moved from #DC in 2017.

I'll be rebuilding my library with my favs, and already have 6 now.
