It’s hard watching something you worked so hard to build crumble slowly before your eyes after you leave the project. Again.
I think that’s why I’m done working on projects for others in my spare time, and I’m going to simply work on ideas I want to build, that I have full ownership of. The money might not be there immediately, but the pipeline seems simpler if I’m the client.

I completely understand why subscription pricing is helpful to app developers, and I also completely get that they have a need for a steady income (and deserve that). But as a consumer, I am much more willing to pay a significant one-time cost for an app. It’s a primary reason I abandoned #Ivory in favor of #Mona, for example. If a developer only offers subscription pricing, I am no longer interested, no matter how good the app is.

SwiftUI is a bit of a challenge, and I’m very tempted to drop back to UIKit, but I gotta say I’ve made a lot of progress in a couple days!
I also added an option to auto-open in Safari’s Reader Mode which makes the web usable!
(There’s also an option to open in your system default browser too but who actually does that?)
Layout animations make everything so much more refined!
Switch between compact and card views 😁
It’s way too fun to make icon variants. I think my favourite so far is “Tutti Frutti” 😋

Constantly tweaking but the theme engine is in and working! 🎉
I'm gonna start with a base light and dark theme and add to it.
For the default, pure black theme, I can't decide if I like the header and footer translucent or not 🤔
Gut feel is that it's distracting.
Pretty happy with the compact view. I'll be adding a button so you can switch between the two and I may have some more options tucked away in the settings 👀

Ended up refactoring the walker as my original was slow and prone to causing errors.
Still need to figure out the UI for the comments but at least they're readable now!
The UI design is going to take a lot of thought but the basis for nested/threaded comments is in!
Need to add a button to load further levels when necessary but that shouldn't take too much effort with the comment walker I've written doing the work 😎

Refactored the app to have a GlobalStateProvider so I can chuck around post IDs and have persistent state for things like comment counts and whether a user has upvoted.
Moved onto the single post view. Comments are pulled out into a basic FlatList. Tomorrow's task will be figuring out a UI for them that doesn't totally suck.
Also, what the hell should I put in the nav bar? It looks so empty!

It would be so nice to have a basic microblog plugin/app that turned your WordPress site into a microblog using a custom post type. I haven't tried because I don't know how to make mobile apps.
Also, I've said "I wish I knew how to make mobile apps" one time too many. Perhaps this winter will be the time I finally learn React Native.

But it's a saturated market where revenue slows down once you've reached a few subscribers. If your app isn't up to par, you're out.
