I ordered an #applewatchultra2 via my campus bookstore and it should arrive mid-to-late October. The only reason I went Ultra 2 instead of Series 9 is that the battery life on my Series 4 has always been terrible- and since I upgraded to #watchos10 last week it’s gone from needing a charge twice a day to 3 or sometimes 4. Apple has great battery life with their #AppleSilicon laptops - wish they’d fix the bad battery life of #iPhones and AppleWatches

Finally! I managed to snatch a great value M1 Mac Mini 16GB / 1TB! Some minor dings around the bottom from a metal stand by previous owner. Only 1.1TB data written and about 23hrs power on time. Really excited to finally move my daily driver from my beloved maxed out MacBook Air 2012 13" to Apple Silicon.

Okazuje się, że Intel ponownie nie dowiózł sprawy. Tym razem chodzi o wypuszczenie na rynek w 2023 roku procesorów wykonanych w technologii 3 nm. Apple będzie jedyną firmą, która to zrobi.
Według nowego raportu dotyczącego łańcucha dostaw, tylko produkty Apple otrzymają w tym roku chipy TSMC wykonane w technologii 3 nm. Dopiero w 2024 roku tajwański producent chipów zacznie produkować chipy 3 nm dla innych firm.
Jest to zmiana w stosunku do wcześniejszych oczekiwań, zgodnie z którymi Intel otrzymałby niektóre chipy 3 nm wyprodukowane przez TSMC pod koniec tego roku.
Intel wie, że komputery PC z systemem Windows potrzebują procesorów 3 nm, aby spróbować dogonić wydajność i energooszczędność Mac z Apple Silicon, ale własne możliwości firmy w zakresie produkcji chipów są tak daleko w tyle, że nie może ich wyprodukować we własnym zakresie. Planem firmy jest więc zlecenie TSMC produkcji zaprojektowanych przez Intela chipów dla procesorów Arrow Lake.
Digitimes donosi jednak, że Intel spowolnił swoje plany i teraz nie odbierze żadnych chipów TSMC aż do przyszłego roku.
Oznacza to, że najbardziej zaawansowane chipy tajwańskiego producenta będą dostępne wyłącznie dla Apple.

They shurely have some means to reset it into "Vendor" or "Factory Reset" but I'd not be surprised if that's some kid of "Jig" [similar to the #PS3] and has actual crpytography to authenticate, so it's not like some simple DFU mode...

There's a reason #Transmeta literally did design their chips to emulate #amd64 & #ix86 with an architecture that isn't an #ISA a OS can even directly utilize.
That being said, I'm confident that #ARM / #ARM64 will be a stepping stone till #RISCV is mature enough to become mainstream (i.e. 20 Years) and cheap $10 #FPGAs allow running one at a performance that is on-par to then current #AppleSilicon SoCs and faster than any current-day #AMD64 can be.

It just fails and tells me to contact the software provider. I've tried both the x64 and Arm64 versions of the installer, tried a reboot, and I do already have Xcode and dev tools installed.

I do not understand #software #developers who continue providing #Intel #x86 only and/or #unsigned #macOS packages.
As I commented on the issues page for #AriaNg Native (an #ElectronJs frontend for the #aria2 download utility), Intel-only #Mac software “serves a dwindling niche of discontinued models and discontent professionals.” And unsigned #apps are “unusable for anyone who wants to maintain their Mac’s #security.”

Got a decent price on a used m1 mini with 16 GB. was eyeing a Ryzen mini with 32 GB, but let's see how it goes. At least the resell value on Macs holds pretty solid.

Now I'll have to decide what to do with my Hacintosh sleeper build from 2017, which has held up amazingly well -- but ain't small or quiet.
Really interested in seeing what M2 Pro and M2 Max performance looks like in Xcode (esp. relative to earlier M1 and M2 variants).
Remember when Apple's A-series ARM processors started getting near-desktop level Geekbench scores and everyone was like "it's apples and oranges because reasons" and dismissing #ARM performance as still inferior to #x86?
I published a review of the 2018 #iPadPro saying the #A12X had desktop-class performance and got lots of naysayers on social and in comments.
I wonder if those people are still dismissing #AppleSilicon?

b) well, I use Metatext too and it’s running fine. The maintainer asks for someone to take over. From my experience, someone eventually will. So I wouldn’t worry too much if I was you. That shouldn’t be a show-stopper.
c) if you have an #AppleSilicon #Mac then you can use the #Metatext app on the Mac too, just as I do.
