Venus went from its domicile in Libra ♎ to its detriment in Scorpio ♏ today. We go from indulging in decadence, balancing the scales, taking our previous experience from Venus retrograde this summer & expressing ourselves in new ways, to being more vulnerable, opening up & going deeper with the new relationships we've formed.

Venus is in detriment in Scorpio because Scorpio resembles the energy of Mars more than Venus. Venus wants to provide a nice space for people to exist, where they can love each other & find balance. This provides the person with the ability to choose when they're able & have the confidence to take on outside problems in their life. On the other hand, Mars is a problem solver & understand pain, & trauma. Mars doesn't shy away from the ugliness of life & in fact excels in it. This leads to a depth & magnetism that is exuded when Venus is in Scorpio. The ability to go deeper than the light surface, which is in some ways opposite of how Venus goes about helping normally.

Now is a time for vulnerability, opening up, and allowing the people you trust to truly care for you.

Figured it was finally time to add some pagination to my blog archive so I got to tinker with #Astro for the first time in a bit.

I absolutely love how easy it was to do without shipping a single line of client-side JavaScript.

My feeling is, if anybody for any reason is kind enough to read what I write, I should waste as little of their time as possible. So it's important to me to keep my blog super lightweight, and zero client-side JS is a big component of that.

If you've been feeling extra tired lately, it might be because both the Sun & Mars have been building up to a square with Saturn in Pisces ♓ over the past few days, & it's now hit its peak & is receding.

Mars & the Sun can be thought of as ambitions, with the two of them so close together, the future becomes more clear - the need to go out & get what you want or become who you dream of becoming is at the forefront of your mind. Both of them ingressed from Scorpio ♏ to Sagittarius ♐ in the last few days, which forms a direct square with Saturn.

Saturn reveals the limits of whatever it's interacting with, this being your dreams & your natural drive to get it done. Saturn forces us to second-guess ourselves, & align ourselves with our personal morals & values. With it squaring the Sun & Mars, it might show you the limits of your ambitions, the fears that you have of moving forward without checking yourself. It shows that you can't do everything at once, & it's imperative to have a plan to build up to your dream.

Over the course of Sagittarius ♐ season this second-guessing will recede & open ourselves up to more optimism about the future.

Another thing about Mercury and Mercury retrogrades in general - this year, we had Mercury retrograde in earth signs (Capricorn ♑, Taurus ♉, Virgo ♍), meaning people with those placements are usually most affected by them, and develops a general theme for what types of communicative breakdowns are going to happen - significations having to do with earth signs (material stability, practical ideas, etc). This upcoming year will have retrogrades in fire signs instead (Sagittarius ♐, Aries ♈, Leo ♌). This will shift the general theme of Mercury retrogrades to be the significations of fire signs instead. Next year will be water, then air, rinse repeat.

while I'm at it, does anyone know if there is a way to tell VSCodium to use SCSS syntax highlighting for style blocks in astro/svelte/vue? I'm using PostCSS to enable nesting syntax and it's doing a very poor job of tokenizing it as vanilla CSS (which does support nesting now, but whatever)

Mercury retrograde really sneaking up on me, the pre-shadow period in Sagittarius ♐ starts on the 25th!! The pre-shadow period is when Mercury starts slowing down, and it's also the place where Mercury goes back to. For example, the pre-shadow period starts when Mercury is at 22° of Sagittarius ♐. When Mercury retrograde eventually begins, it begins at 8° of Capricorn ♑. Then Mercury will go backwards in the sky, entering Sagittarius again, and going all the way back to 22° of Sagittarius before stationing & eventually moving forward again. When Mercury goes *back* along those degrees it has already visited, it will *re-visit* those subjects again, for better or worse. So pay attention when Mercury starts its pre-shadow period, because Mercury will reveal the themes of the retrograde period during that time.

New post: “Astro MDX Components”

https://blog.kizu.dev/astro-mdx-components/

Today’s post is sponsored by me not knowing what I’m doing. In other words: fiddling with how my blog is built.

Given Astro is a relatively new framework, I struggled to find solutions to some probably simple things I wanted to do with it.

In this post, I’ll document what I did find working for me, and maybe this could be of any assistance to others also struggling with #Astro & its #MDX integration.

@jerryD I would go entirely framework-less for little stuff and #WebComponent libraries - it's a great future-proof solution. Add the recent #CustomElements #LSP made for #Neovim, #Intellij or #VSCode into the mix - a cherry on top!

But for everything beyond that, like #MPA, #WebComponents make a good neighborhood with #Astro or #HTMX for me.

I can't install a new #astro project by running "npm create astro@latest". Using #pnpm and #yarn works just fine.

#node version: 20.9.0 & #npm is 10.1.0. Tried installing #svelte with npm for comparison & got a similar error, so it's a local issue? When using "npm install" to install #11ty it works with no issues.

Could anyone point me to a direction how to fix this? I'm not very familiar with debugging these kind of things...

#Astro: I just spent a few hours to test-drive Tina CMS (https://tina.io) with @astro and I'm really happy with the result.
- Tina is markdown-first; Astro is perfect for markdown
- both support schemas / frontmatter
- Astro's content collection(s) are just the perfect match for this (i.e. editorial vs posts)
- you can self-host Tina, use their cloud and/or run the editor locally
