Last night I shot 61GB of data, a good night for #astrophotography despite the wind and the full #Moon. Lots of exposures are getting thrown out, but sheer volume should win out.

Only one exposure needed for this guy with a 16" reflector at f/4.5 and an ASI2400MC astro camera.

I captured the exposures for these two images on two separate nights earlier this month and processed both sets of exposures in exactly the same way. The difference between them is that I used a duo narrowband filter to capture the one on the right which blocks most light except that associated with Hydrogen alpha and Oxygen III.

Wanted to see what a full frame camera could capture of the night sky from a dark park in the middle of a heavily light polluted town. It didn't help that a waxing gibbous moon was in the night sky just to the left of the frame.

Since I saw some of you enjoyed yesterday's photo of the ISS transiting our full moon, I thought I'd post some more details: This kind of transit is quite rare, but can be observed almost anywhere with some patience and planning. The ISS is about 400km above earth, and it circles around our planet 16 times a day - so it's faaaaast! The transit of the moon takes less than 1 second, so timing is everything.
