Hey #Audio peeps, do any of you use any cheap or free de-esser plugins that are super transparent? I'm aware of a few, but I'm not sure I have the time or resolve to test them all out, so if you happen to have a killer recommendation to point me in the right direction, it would be lovely. 😅
I'm working out my effect chain for voiceover, and I need a gate or expander that's really clean, and more importantly, a de-esser that you can't even tell is there.

I have a plugin on my iPad/iPhone called Brusfri which does much the same (albeit manually), but that costs a bit on Mac.
An allpass filter in sound design alters the phase relationship of a signal without affecting its frequency response. It adds subtle and natural phasing effects, enriching the sound's spatial qualities. Great for avoiding coloration but adding depth! #SoundDesign #AudioProduction

Studio people of the Fediverse, I have a mic (actually currently two in a ORTF setup) on a boom arm that I want to be able to disconnect from the arm quickly, with the cable(s) still attached. Like a secure type of quick release system. Does such a thing exist for microphones? Currently it's threaded on, as is standard.

Audio/ video producers, #macOS question for you: I have an audio file, I have an effect chain (VST, AU etc.). Is there a way to apply the FX to the audio in an automated way?
Basically: can I write a script or Shortcuts workflow or Applescript etc. that accepts a parameter and spits out a processed file? I'd appreciate any pointers.
Related info: I have ffmpeg, Reaper, Bitwig, Ableton Lite, Garageband right here.

Oh, I guess it's #introduction time?
For one, I'm into #philosophy, especially #PoliticalPhilosophy, #ethics / #axiology, #PhilosophyofScience (especially of biology), #PhilosophyofMind, #SocialTheory, #PhilosophyofAction. My familiarity is mostly in #ContinentalPhilosophy, though I try to read more analytic. Also superficially dabble in any field that is called "x studies" and some of the formal sciences. So that influences the kinds of books I read. I do read fiction, but I prefer comics and #manga for that.
I like #anime, and I am very casual with #gaming. I am #programmer, but more in the capacity of a #developer than a computer scientist (this is a way of me saying I am dum w/ computer but also like telling it what to do). My feelings about #poetry are that it is cringe AND cool at the same time. My thought about poetry is that it's not cringe. I think #drums and #AudioProduction are cool, and I think #drawing / #doodling is a very relaxing and therapeutic activity.
