Love Beach, Nassau Bahamas. 🌴☀️
This is normally a peaceful and relaxing beach that is surrounded by reef/sandstone.
When I took this photo there was an earthquake that occurred close to Jamaica as well as a full moon that evening. Both events brought waves in like I've never seen before and I've spent over 200 days of my life on this tiny island.
I was on a short break from my job at the nearby airport when I took the photo. On the way home we had to avoid that stretch of road altogether and cut through the inner areas of the island.
That evening was a whole other adventure heading to the night events as waved crashed into the streets and brought rock and debris with them. It was an interesting experience to have!

We were keeping an eye on the sky as heavy rain was in the forecast for Nassau this day (Apr 10, 2023). On this check of the sky, it offered me a scene of the top edge of Fort Fincastle. The flag, as you can see, was whipping in the wind that was pushing the rain clouds.

The Queen's Staircase, aka the 66 steps, is located in the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex. It was built by 600 enslaved people, who carved out the area from solid limestone rock between 1793 & 1794.It's purpose was to provide a direct route from city center to the fort that guarded the entrance to Nassau Harbor.

Speaking of #Bahamas #FolkMusic, The Real Bahamas vols. 1 and 2 are amazing. Volume 1 includes the lovely “We bid you goodnight,” which inspired the #GratefulDead to add it to their repertoire. The volumes come with a narrative around the music and its roots in Bahamian fishing and religious culture. Really beautiful, fascinating #music. Here’s The Pindar Family along with Joseph Spence on guitar playing “We’ll understand it better by and by.”
