I think the list of basic needs needs an update.
We used to think, that a human needs in order to survive at least water, food, sleep, clothes and a shelter.
I think the modern first world list would be:
- Coffee
- Solitude
- Internet
- Cute pictures of pets
- Strangers to argue with
This is interesting and matches what I’ve been working on for years now (i.e. “emotional needs” and workplace performance).

We all want to be well. To belong. To be respected. To love and be loved. To be safe.
We are One in the most basic of ways.
