Hey #believeinfilm friends,

Have you tried pushing your #Portra800 +1 or +2 stops?

Jason of grainydays had recently dropped a video where he tried doing that and didn't like his results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2iR7Yp2OPg

But I think that if you scan your negatives using the methods I use, you can get really good colours. The film may still eat your shadows, but the results will look accurate and the grain isn't really all that bad.

Some samples and how I did it here: https://www.analog.cafe/microblog/xlvp

Just finished rolling my roll of Kodak Vision 3 250D. I got a 100ft roll of Kodak 5222 black and white film, and 50 ft of Ektachrome slide film. To help reduce decision fatigue, I also have two bulk rollers so I always have one black and white and one color going on at any time.

I’ve got a guy who buys 400 ft rolls and then he respools them into 50 or 100 for me. I’m interested in the cost savings of bulk rolling but not in inventory management of huge amounts of fresh film.

I've got half a roll left in my Canon T90. I need to finish that off tomorrow and get ready to ship my Canon FD collection to Steve at Camera Clinic in Mandan, North Dakota.

I'm still looking for suggestions as to who can service:

- Olympus Pen F half frame 35mm
- Yashica-A TLR
- Yashica-Mat LM TLR
- Hasselblad 500c

The Hasselblad is in good working condition but I hope to keep it that way for several more decades. I'm sure eventually we'll need professional help.

I’ve wanted to get into #LargeFormat photography for a long time. The blocker is cost. I can get a camera for less than $400 USD but with all the extras we’re talking close to a grand. I don’t have a darkroom, & despite being a photographer for 50+ years, never learned to do my own developing. I mean, does it even make sense to add to the cost by having to take my negs to someone else?

And yet…

(Someone needs to tie me to the mast -- probably the spouse).

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

This is a point-and-shoot review I'm particularly excited about. Mostly due to how pretty this camera looks in pictures and because it completes the series of my higher-tier Konica Big Mini reviews on the blog:

Konica Big Mini F: https://www.analog.cafe/r/konica-big-mini-f-camera-review-ieqi

This is one of the best cameras in this price range when it comes to what I think are important things: autofocus speed, viewfinder, and lens quality.

Let me know what you think!

Yesterday evening, I developed two rolls of KosmoFoto Agent Shadow, 400ASA film, 17:30 min in Rodinal 1+50, minus some time for 22°C. Perfectly uneventful, both rolls turned out just fine.

The only problem was, I discovered it now while scanning the film, is... those weren't two rolls of the same film, the other was AgfaPhoto APX 400! 😬

Despite that the development times aren't the same, both rolls ended up equally well developed! 🥳

#Art #Photography #Polaroid #BelieveInFilm #EmulsionLift #FediGiftShop

Colour Polaroid emulsion lift, cropped close on a white background.

The image is quite minimalist, showing some dried plant stems in a dark red glass vase against a slightly textured sepia-coloured background.

The stems are silhouetted dark against the background - on the left there are two dried poppy seed pods, and on the right there is a large round dried allium seed head. The vase has a rounded base, narrowing to a short slim neck - it is a deep red colour but slightly translucent, so the base of the stems can be seen through the glass.

The edges of the emulsion lift are slightly uneven and ragged, and there are small pieces of Polaroid chemistry in places that give it a texture that almost resembles an old plastered wall. There is a single crease in the emulsion on the left hand side, about a third of the way up.
