When I lived in Belize in 1975-76 the vehicle ferry seldom ran, mostly just with advance notice for archaeology or military vehicles (there was a UK military post atop El Castillo watching the Guatemala border). Regular crossings were by canoe (then walk uphill to the site).

About a year ago I went to Belize with Pablo to visit my bestie. We snorkeled in the reefs and wandered through the Mayan ruins but seeing the jaguar night feeding at the Belize zoo was definitely a highlight. Pablo took the first picture with a real camera, I took the second one with my phone. But I’ll never forget seeing those cat eyes come out of the dark of their enclosure.

Today at Cockscomb Wildlife sanctuary in #Belize. What a ride! And we got to see howler monkeys! But this was our last day with the motorcycles. They have been returned and will eventually bring joy to others. Tomorrow is our last full day in Belize. What an amazing adventure. I am so lucky and so grateful. My motorcycle broke down in #Belize. Rental place brought a replacement. Too tall fore, so Stefan rode it. And after 4 kilometers, it also broke down! Here are some local guys helping Stefan load the broken bike into a truck. It's.jist a part of #motorcycle #travel!

We stayed in Belize for a while and our host Richard had set up an intricate system of ropes from the jungle to his back porch.
The kinkajou climb across the ropes every night at dinner time and he feeds them bananas.

I took these on a flight from San Ignacio to the Cayes where we were staying for some diving. There was no airport in San Ignacio the first time I went....a happy development for people who want to see both the jungle and the ocean on their stay.
