More from "Platinum Bike-Friendly" City of Davis. Inaccessible rack. The only chance folks with many recumbent, trike, quadricycle, and hand cycle designs have is hoping the ends of the rack are empty for them.

This install places the rack so close to a landscape curb that it cannot be used by disabled cyclists like me. So now you hope ONE end is empty when you need it. #BikeTooter #CycleParkingAudit #DavisCA

Inaccessible "lightning bolt" rack design is on a bulb-out constructed for pavers. The rack of 4 is really only a rack of 2 for those who don't ride a certain range of upright bicycle designs. In this case it's a rack of 1 because the rack was installed so close to a street tree well curb that it's rendered even more inaccessible.

Inaccessible "lightning bolt" style rack installed right at the edge of a street tree well, next to the rack and too close for comfort are 3 metal cafe tables which are chained to metal loops that are sunk into public sidewalk concrete.

Fall and Winter Collection Service: Beginning with the third Monday in October and ending in late February, there will be 10 on-street yard material pile pick-ups, every other week.

A bldg that held a small insurance agency & had a small car parking lot is being converted to a coffee place. The location would be perfect to attract cycle and pedestrian traffic, but instead they doubled-down on cars (only one space of which is for folks with mobility disabilities who most have the need to drive there) and this is apparently the cycle rack they have planned: #DavisCA #BikeTooter

5 traffic cones put inside a bolted-together cheap wheelbender cycle rack. It's not very accessible nor very secure. It is currently in the dirt adjacent to a newly-built metal cage which is much much sturdier. The cage was built to lock up trash bins.

Contrary to common East Coaster belief, we *do* get Autumn here in California.

In "Bike-Friendly" Davis, it's the season when property-owners have their landscapers pile all their leaves in the cycle lane. #BikeTooter

Road with a single traffic lane on both sides, out of which is carved a painted cycle lane. Parking is forbidden on one side (although a driver farther down the street is parked anyway). On the side with parking, in front of a major apartment complex, about 2 car lengths' worth of leaves are piled a meter or so high. Some are in aesthetically pleasing autumn colors.

An interesting article, maybe it's a good job that doing one of these (even a relatively short one) is an itch I never got to scratch. I'm worried about:

- the minimum level of service set for traffic studies (D at intersections) seems quite high
- it has requirements for pedestrian infrastructure connections for new development, but not for connections to bike infrastructure or shared-use trails.

@gerrymcgovern I've often thought it should be illegal to advertise vehicles doing illegal things. Anything with "professional driver on closed course, do not attempt" in the fine print.
Driving has because Machiavellian... it's not enough that I'm safe, others must suffer.
