In a place like an aviary family trees can get hard to figure out, especially if foxes are known to find their way in. Anyway her macaws relatives were reassuring her as I painted, that she’ll eventually find a good partner that looks just like her.

One of the artificial lakes here has been drained, presumably to have it cleaned.
There's tonnes of trash and even some shopping carts at the bottom of it. One of the local coots seems to like one of the carts and made its nest on top of it.
Anyway, I did not expect there to be any other kinds wildlife there at the moment - but it seems as if the Black-Headed Gulls love this very shallow lake with lots of dirt islands in it!
So I went there yesterday evening and tried my hand at some flight shots. I'm still pretty bad at it, but I got a few that are okay.

I was playing a game and heard a lot of loud cawing outside that sounded a bit "off", i.e. not like the cawing of the regular crows.
Therefore, I decided to look outside and saw this rook perched on a cable right next to my window!
Its beak is probably slightly open because of the heat. If I remember correctly, this is how bird's try to dissipate heat (their form of "panting", I guess) since they cannot sweat.

It’s Norma, and she’s started trimming my nails for me. She patiently moves along from finger to finger. She has learned what hurts and what doesn’t hurt.
