I'll leave the #BirdBuddy inside until I get a better squirrel strategy. Or until spring, when there are more birds and I can hang it high on the balcony again.

Seriously though, it's annoying to get continuously notified that the same animal is hanging out on the feeder. Supposedly that will be fixed in a future software update.

After 54 (!) phone notifications for pictures of the same damn squirrel, I took the #BirdBuddy down. Doing this, I managed to break off some plastic and dump the entire contents of the seed container on the ground. Looking at the pile of black sunflower seed on the dirt, I guessed the squirrel accomplished his mission.

I thought this might happen. After moving the #BirdBuddy, this morning, I've had 54 pictures of squirrels. (Or maybe just 1 squirrel. 🤪

I moved my #BirdBuddy from our front stoop to a wooded common area in our complex. I've had the feeder in a couple of locations over the last 6 weeks with no photos.
Hopefully this will be a better setting and no neighbors will notice or complain.

We’ve never gotten an adult Woodhouse’s scrub-jay (though I see them in the yard a lot), but we’ve now gotten multiple visits to our #BirdBuddy from a juvenile (or more than one?). I wonder if the adults just don’t change their feeding habits, so now we’ll start to get this next generation moving forward.

We finally got something other than a black-headed grosbeak at the new #BirdBuddy in New Mexico! And it’s the first species to overlap with the Bird Buddy in Baltimore: a house finch.

Oh hey! We finally got the female grosbeak on camera! Pretty sure she’s mated to the male that we’ve got a bunch of pictures of now. She’s been hanging out near the feeder, but this is the first time she’s actually stopped to eat. #BirdBuddy

Hmm, for some reason, #BirdBuddy has started occasionally misidentifying black-headed grosbeaks as spotted towhees. We do have both here, and they are somewhat similar looking from certain angles, but the towhees have yet to visit the feeder (and I don’t think they’re likely to). Hopefully correcting it will train the AI to better distinguish between them.
