#OnThisDay (2020) I went downtown and caught a crow after multiple reports on a local bird group of it being injured and unable to fly.

Catching a crow isn't easy. It couldn't fly, but it sure can run.

Anyway, I took it to the vets to get a health check and he got released shortly afterwards in a local park.

I bought a coconut 🥥 birdfeeder the other day as a little treat for the small birds that visit our back garden. Usually the seagulls take over and scare the little birds away.

But we have had so many visitors today and they've almost got halfway through the treat for them. It's lovely to see them enjoying the food in the coconut shell.

This immature #AmericanGoldfinch perched for some time on the clothes line and was looking quite aristocratic and regal. The juvenile Goldfinches are quite beautiful in the subtle colors of buff and brownish black plumage. I find that the fact that the #Goldfinch is one of the strictest #vegetarians in the bird world quite interesting.

Juvenile Goldfinch in buff and brownish black and gold is perched on the clothesline and looking as if it hear something.

The bright red Cardinal Flower is the Hummingbird's favorite nectar and the red is hard to miss. The vivid red #Lobelia is growing in my backyard pond and the #RubyThroatedHummingbird is zooming in for the sweet nectar!

I don't see the #RedBelliedWoodpecker too often so was quite excited to see this one on my Maple tree in winter. You always know when the hawks are around as the birds are suddenly quiet and that was the case on this winter day. I was checking the trees to see if I could see a hawk and then this #SharpShinnedHawk flew onto the snowy Spruce tree branch. Left with no lunch from my yard!

These tiny songsters with black cap and white cheeks are so cute, curious and quite acrobatic at times. This little #BlackCappedChickadee perched on a small tree branch in winter was aware of me being so close but as they seem to be so trusting, it made no move to fly away until a spot was available at the feeder in #Guelph #Ontario Canada.

The juvenile Green Heron is a dark, stocky bird hunched on slender orange/yellow legs usually at the water’s edge, often hidden behind a tangle of leaves, except in this image where it has just landed on a dead tree stump with it's freshly caught fish that is wrapped around it's beak. The bright orange legs are the color in breeding season.Seen up close, it is a striking bird with a velvet-green back, rich chestnut body, and a dark cap often raised into a short crest. These small herons crouch patiently to surprise fish with a snatch of their daggerlike bill.

The Great Egret is a dazzling sight dressed all in white and set against the colourful red and gold background as it flies past a fall forest. A tall, stately white wader of quiet waters it takes flight when disturbed. The Grand River at Wilson's Flats Elora/Inverhaugh Ontario has been known to host the odd Egret and I was thrilled to see it in flight.

Looking forward to seeing the #SnowyOwls this winter. In this older image she was giving me the watchful look. The Snowy Owl is a sit and wait hunter. Silent and patient it surveys the winter fields as it hunts during the day, unlike other Owls.

Imagine my delight when the regal female Snowy Owl was found roosting on a telephone/hydro post in a farmers field and in this image giving me the watchful look as she watched my approach. The Snowy Owl is a sit and wait hunter. Silent and patient it surveys the winter fields as it hunts during the day, unlike other Owls.

When on vacation I am up at sunrise hoping for some great bird shots in the early morning light. I love the #PileatedWoodpecker and was thrilled to see it in the Oak tree in golden light just after #sunrise. This handsome fellow in the golden glow was enhanced and it's colors deepened by the light.

When on vacation I am out and about at sunrise hoping for some great bird shots in the early morning light. I absolutely love the Pileated Woodpecker and was thrilled to see it in the Oak tree in golden light just after sunrise. He was just so handsome and the golden glow enhanced and deepened the colors of not only the woodpecker but the foliage and rough bark as well. The leaves were just starting to turn color in the fall. A Pileated Woodpecker is a very large, striking, forest bird with red crest, white and black plumage that sounds like a jack hammer while searching for food in the forest. You can hear them for sure but as soon as you get close enough for a shot, they're usually gone.

This Common Loon with wings open and beak pointed to the sky while the juvenile waits for food was a resident of the Moon River Ontario Canada, hence the title Loon On The Moon. Loons have long been considered by many North Americans as beautiful and special, symbolizing wilderness and solitude.
