Two hawks in a cloudy blue sky. Some treetops can be seen at the bottom of the photo and another bird is visible in the distance. The kite on the left is gliding, wings outstretched, looking down towards the ground. The one on the right is stooping, its back is visible and its beak is open in a screaming whistle. The feathers on the underbody are speckled red/brown and white, with white flashes near the wingtips. The beak is curved and obviously that of a raptor. The bald eagles that sit in the cottonwood tree here every evening. I took the camera out when I heard them making noise after the rooster on the porch alerted me to something. I expected it would be in it's normal spot that's hard to see from below but one wasn't. It was only there for less than 30 seconds after I took some pictures.

A bald eagle I was able to photograph on Saturday at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge near Olympia, Washington. I was standing under a shelter structure observing some shore birds when this bald eagle flew right in my direction and perched on top of the shelter. I was only feet away from it. I have never seen one this close in the wild.

The Birds of Prey are back, and their presentation card is really cool. Good writing, and the art... Am I the only one that finds it... Jaime Hernandez-esque? It's very good anyway.

In just an issue we got a "how and why they got together", and all of the team members have their moment to shine. Not bad, not bad.
