so it's not a ethos of today's diaspora and/or Africa, but a love letter to a single place for the entire diaspora (sometimes located on the continent) #BlackMastodon

I've always been a little uncomfortable with Black America's #Afrofuturism and its space age aesthetic, the way it reimagines Africa as this sci-fi landscape.

That's not us. What you're doing smacks of the kid who goes to school and claims his dad is an astronaut cos he's ashamed that he's really a plumber.

#Africa isn't perfect, but we're proud of who we are. If you care, you should be too.

I am watching some videos on the end of E2E encryption. If it ends, This would mean for example, companies could send you advertisements about online gambling because you told a friend in confidence over a formerly secure app that you have a gambling addiction.

The NSA in particular loves surveillance. Their excuse: "Only criminals need to hide their activity!"

End to end encryption (E2E) is a technology used by SOME messaging apps and sites to protect your data from being read by outside sources. Hackers, your neighbor, advertisers/companies, your ISP, THE GOVERNMENT.
(It is not perfect but it's the best we've got.)

There are an increasing number of researchers that theorize ways that E2E encryption can be broken. It involves math & comp Sci.
And the government doesn't like that it CAN'T surveil certain communications.

As much as I like the guardian, I think the point has been missed. It is not a coincidence that Chris Kaba was black.
