Women using hair straightening products are especially at risk. The Look Good Feel Better program encourages women undergoing cancer treatment to use cosmetics. Meanwhile, the EU has banned 2,400 dangerous chemicals that can't be used in cosmetics. The US has banned 11.

On this day in 1972 Shirley Chisholm was nominated the Democratic presidential candidate. She was both the first Black person and woman to be nominated. She ran on the slogan “unbought and unbossed.”
With obvious challenges she called out her gender as the biggest, noting “…I met more discrimination as a woman than for being Black.”

The 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, formed in March 1945, sifted 17 million pieces of mail in 3 months in the UK.
