The Jetpack app just gave me my weekly roundup for my @noelleification.wordpress.com blog and I had 187 views and 11 comments, by far the most I've ever gotten!!
This was mostly due to the fact I connected my blog to the fediverse a few days ago. 😄

Any platform that exists for the sole purpose of serving #UGC (i.e., user-generated content) will eventually be overrun by industrial-strength #contentsludge churned out by content farms/factories...
The amount of time it takes to reach this stage is directly proportional to the level of activity on the platform.
It happened with Google Search, with #blogs, with #YouTube. It is currently happening with #podcasts.
It's kinda the #enshittification equivalent of Social Platforms...

I am SO happy that WP.com supports the #Fediverse this way. Now I don't have to depend on brid.gy to allow Mastodon comments to my posts to appear on my blog. I'll figure out how to do this after my walk.

People keep talking like nobody uses #blogs anymore, but then I stumble across yet another post where someone posted stuff on theirs and they might make a toot about it but nothing else.
Blogs have gone so mainstream people don't even think about them anymore.

Back when the blogosphere was in its prime, people would throw Atrios shade about not adding enough content, just being an aggregator.
That's not how I think of him. Most of the blogosphere tried to model itself after traditional journalism. They saw themselves as future op ed writers and Sunday panelists. (Often to hilarious/horrible results.) Atrios was just the guy you talk politics to over your fence or at the bar. He wasn't deep, he wasn't measured, he was cathartic.

Wordpress block editor sucks ass. Random mixing of content (copy/paste different content, yet it merges it stupidly), putting barriers in way of user (just try to move between blocks) etc. Gutenberg would be sad they named this nuisance after him.
