BlueSkys official #ATProtocol account just highlighted a community developer project to bridge it with #ActivityPub
#BlueSky early on decided not to go with the open #W3C standard in favor of implementating features like account migration. Planning to start federating next year, they've made some decisions I'm skeptical about.
Many #Mastodon servers will likely decide against bridging, having different values regarding privacy and data collection. What do you think?

Demnächst wird also tatsächlich eine Verbindung mit dem #Fediverse bestehen, mit gegenseitigem Folgen, Posten, Teilen, etc.
Die Bridge ist keine ideale Lösung, wird aber funktionieren, sobald bsky die erforderlichen Funktionen aktiviert.
Ich überlege jedem einen Keks zu schenken, damit er dort hin geht, denn es ist sehr öde dort...🤭

Se sai minut tosissaan arvostamaan ja muistamaan, miten hieno ja aidosti erilainen alusta tämä on. Vaikka nostalgiasta usein tykkäänkin, niin ”Twitter sellaisena kuin se joskus oli”, mitä Bluesky mielestäni yrittää olla, ei oikein nappaa.

Das Einzige, was ich, zumindest hier im Fediverse, hauptsächlich vom Mastoverse, ist eine Grundeinstellung von Hass und Häme gegenüber und dem voreiligen Blocken.
Auf #Bluesky selbst ist die Stimmung, zumindest von dem, was ich bisher mitbekommen habe, vorerst recht gelassen. Wobei ich aber auch sagen muss, dass die ersten Mobber, die mich damals auf Twitter gedoxxt und gejagd haben, mich auch schon da versucht haben zu von der Plattform zu ekeln. My impressions of BlueSky Social after a few days are that it's very Twitter-like but probably not for me at this time or maybe ever. On Mastodon I feel like I'm part of a community and I don't get that same feeling on BlueSky, it's still limited and invitation only so maybe it will change. I was engaging with people on the 1st day on Mastodon but haven't interacted with anyone in three days on BlueSky. Lots of professionals and news services so far.
Überlege mir, einen #Bluesky-Account anzulegen, nur um den Kollaps aus nächster Nähe verfolgen zu können, wenn #Threads wirklich noch diesen Dezember bei uns starten sollte.

Is anyone using #bluesky and #threads in addition to Mastodon?
So far I’ve found Mastodon to be the most open social sphere with a good amount of tooling/third party apps, bluesky taking second place given it’s so new and threads being the most closed off
Only issue I’m seeing is that most of my friends have ended up going for threads over anything else (but I’m not seeing them post regularly)
Spoutible's Fediverse support will be both built and tested against Mastodon and Mastodon only because literally nobody at Spoutible is aware of even the existence of anything else in the Fediverse.
Friendica has better multi-protocol federation than Spoutible because it was built for that from the very beginning, and Friendica is working on native Bluesky federation. Not to mention that it's free, open-source, non-commercial and decentralised.

48 hours engaging more actively on #Bluesky, including a post getting some traction, and it really is just Twitter again, only with fewer people (for now). The UI is the same; the content is the same; the conversations are the same; there's reply guys and trolls. (Oddly, there's no hashtags, but randos still find you.)
I *get* its appeal, but after a year off Twitter, it's neither the social nor content experience I want anymore. YMMV.

Increasingly I'm finding #LinkedIn to be the best of the "normy" social media platforms. #Mastodon is where I have conversations, LinkedIn is where I follow industry trends and try not to become nauseated with the hustle culture nonsense.
I don't see how #Threads or #BlueSky really fit in to my mental conceptions of what I want out of social media. But LinkedIn, eh, it serves a purpose.

Over on #bluesky, #mastodon is viewed as hostile to outsiders and oddly preoccupied with #linux.
I haven't seen the latter at all. We are just hostile to people who want to elbow in and remake #twitter. The sheer amount of *angst* over there is astonishing. Lovely people though, for the most part.

the #fediverse structure is like a great idea whose time has come, but it destroys the entire concept of turning money into influence. they can't deny the former, but their entire business is built on the latter. they (#nostr, #bluesky, add in #threads too, @minds before them) are desperately trying to reconcile these facts through some kind of new technology. but they can't.
the medium is the message.
I honestly hope that, with #BlueSky rooting for and even championing #ActivityPub and giving it and Mastodon kudos, that Federation will happen and people will let people move over to Bluesky. We will get to talk to them anyway, so it really doesn't matter what platform we do it on. #Twitter
Posting this quote from #BlueSky developer Paul Frazee, as it is one of my favorite posts from that platform and exactly how I feel about BlueSky and Nostr too. This is not zero-sum and as I see bridges forming (now between Masto-Nostr, soon between ActivityPub and Bluesky) am excited to see the bridges start to form.

@mmasnick seems to say, in @mike ‘s Dot Social Podcast, that he thinks significant innovation is more likely to happen on top of the future decentralized #bluesky network than on the #activitypub network. Not sure I heard this right, but if so, I would love to hear his reasoning because I sure don’t see it.
Seems #bluesky is getting more and more popular with retro/vintage computer type folk. I still much prefer mastodon but I am going to start using it more, maybe crossposting, and keep my eye on how it develops.
