In 1864, The Clifton Suspension Bridge over the River Avon, Bristol, designed by Brunel, was opened. It links Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset, and is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Today I took the train from #Bristol to #Amsterdam. It cost GBP50 less than flying (although both were >GBP400).
Train: Leave home at 0700, arrive hotel at 16:45
Plane: Leave home at 07:00, arrive hotel at 11:45
I wish the price/time difference was better, particularly as the train connectivity has been fairly weak.

Went to London for work today.

I thought there might be a couple, but no. Admittedly no one was obviously coughing/sneezing in my vicinity, but colleagues reported being near loud coughers all the way.

Arnos Vale is a Victorian cemetery in the south of the city of #Bristol. It is still in use today for woodland burials.
As you step through the gates, the drone of the city drops away to be replaced by snatches of birdsong. It’s peaceful, quiet, and lush with the green grasses and trees resplendent in a bright autumnal sun. It’s where I would like to rest.
