In #Brussels, history and innovation meet at the Bourse!

A symbol of the 19th century, the former stock exchange was carefully restored with €18 million of EU funding to become a lively public space.

The main hall is now an important link in the city centre.

It offers spaces for exhibitions and attractions such as Belgian Beer World and the Bruxella 1238 archaeological site.

As per our #EU sustainability targets, its restoration achieved a remarkable 30% cut in energy consumption.

The bulk waste collection is going on in #Brussels. So I started rummaging through the container & the worker says “can I help you?”

It’s obvious in this situation they really don’t want to help. They’re looking to bounce me. I said “no, just looking for a printer”. They said: it’s all kaput & kinda waived to move me along. I probably should have stood my ground but I think dumpster diving is forbidden. They were actually being polite.

It’s a lousy system. Dumpster diving should be encouraged.

@simon_brooke I agree. Providing bike lanes in cities is still highly effective and a good way to have people abandon cars without pressuring public transportation too much. Here in Belgium, we see this rapid change in cities like #Brussels or #Namur, that missed the infrastructure boost towards bikes of the 70’s that the mostly flat Netherlands and Flanders set up. E-bikes make every road flat and that’s, to me, the biggest game changer.
