Bud-Bud the Happy Lap Spud. There's no place he'd rather be.

Bud was the shy one of a bonded pair. The shelter worried about keeping them together. I worried no one else would understand Bud. So I took them both.

I was right. Even I sometimes had trouble understanding him. But he has a good heart. I knew that would pull both of us through his teen cat years.

If we want two cats, we often adopt two littermates at a young age. This can be a fine strategy, since we have the advantage of them being used to each other from the beginning.

However, without some attention to kitten personality clues and Cat Type indicators, it can backfire. Since a litter of kittens can have different fathers, the littermates can grow up to be very different personalities. It's rare for them to utterly dislike each other, but it's no real guarantee they will be actual friends.

That's not the case with shelter buddies. Past the kitten stage, easily into teenhood, two cats who have already bonded are set for life.

Cat Easy Button? That's how I think of my own cat management methods. With so many rescue cats, and so many things to do elsewhere, efficiency was the only way to go.
