@kasilas The judge must be impartial and hear both sides, regardless of how well or badly one side puts their argument. Judges deal with liars, mentally ill complainants and defendents every day of the week. The evidence is presented by the complainant, answered by the defendent and adjudicated. #Burke wants to bypass the system and the judge won’t let him. I assume he will be asked again to comply with court process so he can make his defence. If he refuses and loses, it will be his fault.

Several issues have become muddled in the discussions of the Burke cases, and minor findings or novel court processes are being heralded as the final outcome. Remember, multiple processes are ongoing and a lot is open to challenge.
Also, courts try to be fair to both sides. If every minor point has been loudly celebrated, a court may feel the need to row back to find fair balance.
More succinctly: it is best to celebrate at the end.
