#Linux #Mint is becoming increasing frustrating. After a recent update, very few thumbnails are showing up in #caja - I've tried various things to resolve the issue. Complete uninstall of Caja, resetting permissions, even using an older kernel. Login Out, and back in seems to fix it for a few seconds, but as soon as a new #thumbnail should show up, it doesn't & breaks the rest. #Mint 21.1 (Yup even tried the beta - This all happened before the beta thou). Images/PDFs/TXT/epubs/AppImage nothing

This App Saves Clipboard Content as File on Ubuntu
Every copied a block of text to your clipboard and wished you could quickly save it as a file? Well, open source developer Marcos Costales (of Folder Color fame) has released a new app that does precisely this. When the ‘Clipboard to File’ tool is installed you get a new right-click context-menu entry in Nautilus file manager (or the Nemo and Caja file managers). When you select it, it saves clipboard content as a new text file or, if you copied an image, saves the image as a PNG. I often copy a big paragraph of text in the browser :sys_more_orange:

Hmm ich daechte genau so haette ich mit #Caja unter #Mate gearbeitet. 2 panes, einer nur mit Icon-Ansicht und die andere Seite mit Thumbnails (die auch groesser gehen)
Mueste ich aber heute Abend tatsaechlich noch einmal testen 🤔
Und Hotkeys zum Kopieren/Ausschneiden, Pane wechseln und einfuegen sollte es auch geben.
Aber wie ich so herauslese, sollte es wohl doch eher ein richtiger™ Bildbetrachter mit entsprechenden Features sein....

Caja (file browser for MATE, generally better than Nautilus, Dolphin, Thunar):
1. Does not give destination files temporary names while copying is in progress.
2. Does not provide an option to verify-after-copying or even just compare-these-folders (you have to run a separate app such as kdiff3, not included, and re-navigate to the folders in question)
...so if a copy operation is interrupted in the middle of a file, there is no clear indication of whether you have the whole file or not.
#2 at least is a problem with just about every file-browser in existence -- and yet the problem of files being incompletely copied is also quite common. #wtf.
Also, why is copying via browser so much slower than rsync? Why don't browsers offer an option to use rsync for copying multiple files?
I'd love to see the functionality of #SyncThing integrated into file managers like #Files (#GNOME), #Dolphin (#KDE), #Caja (in #Mate). Maybe with plug-ins? Flipping back and forth between the folder representations in the SyncThing GUI and the file manager can get really confusing and makes for an awkward #UX.
