New analysis by Purdon this week shows that if the ACT Government allowed duplexes on 700m2 blocks, rather than the 800m2 threshold they went with in the interim territory plan, around 4.8k extra homes would be built - that’s 1 whole year of ACT housing supply we could and should allow!

The talk by @maddiestone on 0day/ndays etc was great. Love the concept of understanding and disrupting adversarial business models. Applicable in the 0day world, in anti-abuse / product integrity and was something we did in disrupting cheaters in online games. Degrade the ability to make money and you can reduce the impact.
Was also a great point that one softwares n-day can be another's 0day and so supply chain vulnerability management is critical.

@milesmcbain when we moved to our suburb it was an area with great public transport but over the years the service has diminished greatly. It's an old old story - spend loads of money on a rebrand and then steadily decrease the service.

Black Mountain (ACT) orchids - Dusky Fingers, Waxlips and Brown Caps out in one spot, but not much out at all in others (although I only had a quick look!) Canberra has had pretty much exactly the average rainfall for this calendar year so far - but local bush land and forests still felt a little drier than most really good orchid seasons. Might have to wait until the montane species start to flower later in spring / early summer now to put a lot of time into looking for Canberra orchids.

Caladenia ustulata (Brown Caps), on Black Mountain, ACT. Usually the first of Canberra's three more common white 'cap' orchids out in flower - can be fairly easily found at several spots from mid-Sept into Oct.
Only had time for a very quick scout yesterday while in CBR for work - but looked like orchid numbers where probably down a bit from really good seasons - but still a few around in the 'lowlands' (600-700m altitude). Hopefully some spring rain will see more out in the mountains later in the year.

Black Mountain Leopard (Diuris nigromontana) on Black Mountain (name checks out!), ACT. Very restricted range but not hard to find at several locations around Canberra from mid-Sept most years - although didn't see a lot out on a quick scout today. One of the ACT's five endemic orchid species.

I have a little #Pezzullo anecdote from a former work colleague. He used to work in the Australian Bureau of Statistics, based in Belconnen, #Canberra. On a Friday, he and some ABS work colleagues were ordering coffee at a local cafe. They are accosted by the Pez, who says they are dressed too casually for public servants. ACT Wildlife is replacing soon-to-be-illegal fruit nets with the legal ones. Take them your old ones and they will replace them.
They have also Failed Their Advertising. The only reason I know about this is that my sister and mother dragged me out there with their carload of old nets a couple of weekends ago.
