The vet prescribed Gabapentin to give to the cats beforehand, b/c 2 out of 3 are Spicy Bois at the vet. So we also did the vet a courtesy by trimming all the cat claws—last time, the vet ppl took it upon themselves to trim Loki’s claws b/c he gets swipey, and they were dangerously short. :cwy:

Anyway, that’s the first time we were able to trim claws without any loud protestations or struggles. 10/10 highly recommend drugs for cats.

How can you?! Declawing a cat would be a crime here, because it is pure animal cruelty! Is the cat not allowed to go outside?! To keep cats only in the house is unnatural and selfish! Scratching belongs to the daily body care for cats, outside they would do it on tree trunks. Buy a cat tree or at least a scratching post for cats, if they are not allowed to go outside.

does anyone have any #Cat #CatCare tips for my darling rumbly, who was raised in a co-op and constantly had people around to give her attention, but we just moved and it's me and her alone now. she has historically not gotten along with other cats, but I will try anything because she has been hiding in her litter box for hours (I have splayed out her multiple beds and blankets and made hiding spots, that's where she chose) and now is searching around and meowing pleadingly and it's making me cry

Despite daily grooming, Eric has got dreadful knots so has therefore been attacked with the horrifying grooming device and scissors. I am upset because he is making a fuss about this.

Yesterday he verbally abused and scratched the woman while she was trying to save him from his bad genetics.

We and our cats are not on the same schedules, or even the same sleep/wake cycle.

When we see them sleeping during the day, that is their biologically proper time to do so. When they are up first thing in the morning, that is also their hunting pattern at work.

When we wake up, they have probably been waiting. Part of it is because they do miss us while we are unavailable.

Do cats need baths? can be a difficult question. The answer is actually an opinion.

I find baths an extremely optional part of cat maintenance. So do our cats.

I am fully aware that there are cats who love baths. This is not the same thing as a cat who supervises our own, or licks the water after our shower.
