Reading a book about the history of Catalunya and the first chapter is the period 1000-1400AD when the Crown of Aragon was expanding across the Mediterranean. It mentions the multiple instances of persecution and pogroms against Jews, the worst being in 1391 including in Valencia.

Es un hecho que el independentismo tiene ahora menos razones y fuerza que hace unos años. Y no ha sido gracias a la "mano dura" sino al diálogo...
Es gracioso porque nos intentan hacer pensar que la Ley de Amnistía va de que Puigdemont no vaya a la cárcel... cuando ahora mismo creo recordar que sólo está en pie la acusación de malversación de fondos públicos.
En el tramo más alto de pena, con prisión, sería tan sencillo como indultarlo (como a otros líderes del procés). En el tramo más bajo, multa e inhabilitación temporal.
La #Amnistía en realidad va de que Joan, dueño de una imprenta que imprimió papeletas, no acabe jodido de por vida. Sólo lo digo para que le demos una vuelta eh.

These internecine conquests and oppressions are everywhere. And they're harmful everywhere.
Barcelona was governed for 8 years by Ada Colau, from the alternative left. They brought many interesting initiatives. But were fiercly attacked by all the other parties. It became a culture war, with the major newspapers against these measures and the conservative parties promising to remove every sign of "Colauism" from the city.
As in Catalonia there is additionally a quite strong independence movement, and Colau's party took an equilibrated position calling for negotiation instead of polarization, conflict and hate, they lost the support of leftwing pro-independence parties. A feeling of disillusion by the core electorate, because the promises to solve all problems of Barcelona could not be uphold (a major is no king and it is still capitalism*), lead to a change in the City Hall. The current major of Barcelona, theoretically the lesser evil, a liberal social democrat, promised to "bring back normality".
A pity, because Barcelona had achieved to become an international example of urban planning and could have shown first steps of how to tackle the social ecological transformation that is so necessary to enablen our survival while making cities a more liveable place.
* one problem was, e.g., that in these pedestrian superblocks the rent prices exploded, forcing local people and traditional businesses lo leave. It is a perfect example that we nee need strong of social and economical politics, because by improving life quality, the major consequence that happens in our dysfunctional neoliberal market economies is gentrification. And it was not the idea to create beautiful city centers that only tourists and the wealthy can afford 🤨.

No s'ha pactat un #referendum , però hi ha un canvi de paradigma important, #catalunya i #espanya negociaran, si compleixen (i aquest cop hi estan prou obligats), d'igual a igual i amb supervisió. Me hace gracia porque en el acuerdo lo llaman "oportunidad histórica". Cuando más bien es una necesidad: Para el PSOE, porque tienen que sacar adelante una investidura (y legislatura).
Para Junts, porque darle el gobierno a la derecha por omisión es fortalecer a Esquerra.
Ojo, porque de cómo evolucione todo, y la legislatura en general, dependerá si hay elecciones anticipadas en Catalunya (y quizá en España) o no.
Tenéis aquí el texto completo (con las hojas desordenadas, me temo) del acuerdo entre el #PSOE y #Junts.
Es un acuerdo que reconoce y hace explícitos los desacuerdos entre las partes (Junts no renuncia a la independencia y el PSOE no renuncia a lo contrario). Sin embargo, reconocen que el problema de fondo sigue ahí 6 años después, y "apuestan por la negociación y los acuerdos como método de resolución de conflictos".
Me parece un buen enfoque hacer explícitas las posiciones de ambos. Es un "no pensamos igual, y seguramente nunca lo hagamos. Pero queremos hablarlo". Y ponen el acuerdo y la democracia en el centro.
