Civil servants speaking the truth and not just letting the PMO communications team control everything should be rewarded, as should journalists who showcase that behaviour!

The same #Quebec that is even today, right now, actively litigating to remove our first indigenous Governor-General because she doesn’t speak French (although she is learning.)
Never mind that no official in her home province (also Quebec) speaks Inuktitut, a language with a far longer history in that land.
As good a day as any to remind everyone that New France had legalized indigenous chattel slavery and that the maintenance of that institution was one of the settlers’ demands, along with maintaining their language and Catholic faith, they would not surrender without.
They would have preferred to burn alive in the walled city than give up their indigenous slaves.
They don’t teach any part of this in #Quebec’s failed schools.
I’m been reacquainting myself with the specifics of disallowance and reservation and it strikes me as very interesting that while the GG can’t disallow a law without the advice of the governor-in-council, the provincial LG can reserve a law at their own, independent, discretion.
At that point the GG could simply withhold assent for a year and the law would lapse.
Keep in mind that LGs serve at the pleasure of the GG, not the premiers.
With Ottawa's green power rules, Danielle Smith's tone turns dark
If gender identity policies are up for debate then so is the Bible’s place in children’s education.
I’d argue it doesn’t have one.
It’s badly written anonymous fiction full of graphic sex and murder. Disagree? Good luck finding evidence to that effect.
It has zero educational value.
Still want to play this game, righties?
Listen, your heteronormal children are not in any sort of danger from anybody who says all kids should be safe. All kids need to be protected from those who say queer kids should not live. Queer kids present no danger to heteronormal children. Hate-mongers do. This isn't rocket science... #abpoli #cdnpoli
There is a cost barrier to existing residential stock to an electrified future.
Similar to Hawaiian Electric mentioned above at 111, AB is not properly incentivizing the installation of 200Amp panels, but rather emphasizing cost savings for corporate bonus benefit.
Without intervention, Alberta would likely look to a situation where people favour new builds in the suburbs where electrification is more cost-effective.
However, homes that were built in the last 5 years may enjoy upgraded wiring. Newer homes then with 100Amp service may see prices in the range of $4000 to simply upgrade panels without other costly procedures.
So, depending on each residence, a switch to electric appliances plus EVs can mean overburdening the existing 100Amp panel. One way around this is the use of smart devices to monitor and manage the load on the panel, and mileage varies.
I understand that at least for Edmonton between the years of 1970 to 2015, homes were built with 100Amp service, and were not wired for anything more. What this means is the owners bear the cost of hiring an electrician to re-trench and lay upgraded wiring for 200Amp. I understand this can vary, and be costly as prices seen go to $11,000 and up. But, EPCOR and others must also run new line to the house in question and prices vary to $30,000.

Another affordability issue would be the cost of electrification. By way of anecdote I spoke with an electrician on this subject.
Does that sound right?
Has anyone done this? What did it cost?
With the above in mind, the UCP have run ads across Canada, have likely used the Alberta Electric System Operator to repeat AB GOV talking points, and threatened court action "against Ottawa”. But, I think this simply highlights that the UCP do not have the political will to speak to affordability issues for Albertans or Canadians in general. Otherwise, there should be at least $20B to deal with electricity bills.
Under AB's weak Energy and Environment regulatory framework, Albertans also face a substantial increase in electricity bills. In an effort to address affordability, AB GOV at some point issued a $200M loan to Alberta Utility Companies. But, rather than address the issue of affordability for Albertans posed by this $200M loan, among other things, the UCP considers giving $20B to Oil and Gas to clean up old wells.

You all understand that there’s a zero percent chance Trudeau actually has the balls to stop #Saskatchewan, right?
Because if he did he’d have to justify why he allows #Quebec to commit on-going cultural genocide without intervention.
The courts and the ballot box are the only salvation here.
“Experts in environmental law say the infraction is troubling evidence of cracks in Alberta's complex regulatory system and undermines its approvals process.
‘The idea of an significant industrial development operating without approval for years, it's off the charts,’ Bankes said.
'I would describe it as negligence.’”
“The ministry filed twenty-five charges against Amberg Corp., an environmental services company, and Olga Kiiker. It’s hard to believe that the decision to lay the charges so soon after the ministry admitted that it had allowed an unregulated refinery to operate for twenty-two years is a coincidence.”
AB GOV has weak regulatory frameworks concerning issues of Energy and Environment. For Alberta, this can lead to a lack of transparency, accountability, and even credibility, to speak to these issues.

A terrible decision from the Ontario Superior Court on September 19 has upheld all the provisions that cause grave harm to all #SexWorkers. The decision is incredibly dismissive of sex workers’ concerns, knowledge, and intersecting realities. Sex workers are deeply disappointed with the Ontario Superior Court decision ignoring systemic harms experienced.

Today my girls are both wearing orange shirts to school. They can do that. They can wear whatever they please because they are blessed to be free of discrimination.
Many children are being discriminated against to this day. Only a week and a half ago we saw marches all across Canada FOR the discrimination of genderqueer youth in schools. Thankfully they were outnumbered by counter-protests.

The narrative that people received CERB and no longer want to work came up at an event I was at yesterday.
Apparently COVID, boomers retiring have nothing to do with staff shortages. So I asked, do any of you know a young person who doesn’t want to work? Who are these supposed CERB addicted youth? Silence.
It is on each of us to challenge these narratives. Too many people accept them as fact.
When I look at the mess in Ottawa and the Metrolinx Toronto debacle I am reminded of being involved in large multi-vendor IT projects before I retired; instead of brainstorming solutions, all the players would spend all their time and energy making sure they wouldn't take the blame, and would look for ways to score political points. Nothing ever changes. #CDNPoli #Topoli #onpoli
This alarming poll of voter intention matched to belief in disinformation from Ekos is far worse than a year ago.
The T or F questions asked of respondents to determine their level of disinformation were:
1. Governments are intentionally concealing the true number of deaths from vaccines
2. Canada's economic growth is well below other G7 countries.
3. Greenhouse gases are causing climate change
4. The right to bear arms is guaranteed in Canada's constitution
