"An adorable ‘graduation’ was held for a pair of twins born at just 22 weeks who beat the odds—and finally were allowed to go home.
Babies Kimyah and DJ were given as little as a 10% chance of survival when they entered the world.
The siblings were the smallest babies some of the Ohio nurses have ever seen, as they could fit in their mother’s hands.
But, miraculously, they battled through and were released from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio after around four months in intensive care.
The staff held a ‘graduation’ for the family to celebrate the special moment—with the 11-month-old siblings given caps and gowns to mark the occasion.
“I was super excited when I found out they were able to come home,” said mom Kimberly Thomas.
Nurse Becky Stuart said it was “a huge celebration."

Years ago Kathryn texted a link to a duck lamp and asked if it was ridiculous or not. I thought it was awesome and made note.
Sidenote: Whenever I get intel from a friend, I file it in the note field on their contact card… Names of pets, important dates, likes, dislikes, random stuff and gift ideas.
Often I’ll revisit a contact card the information makes zero sense, so I try to add sufficient context for future me.
In this case I added “rachel kozlowski duck table lamp” to Kathryn’s card. They were long since sold out when her wedding rolled around so I created an eBay alert and promptly forgot about it for years.
A notification came up in July for a fine specimen and I won the auction. Put a bulb in it to make sure everything was working correctly and it sat in our house all these months. I grew quite fond of that little duck.
When it came time to her birthday I was sad to see it go, but happy it’s going to its forever home.
Bonuses of the evening included a meal at Crown Cantina (now lodged firmly on my list of favorite places in Cincinnati) and meeting her friends Emily & Josh.

Last night we joined other excited "Moon Nerds" on the shore of Lake Michigan to watch the rising of the 2nd full moon of August. It rose remarkably fast! David returned to Angels' Wings after an all-night party to close out Iridium Week, a bacchanalia of #celebration on the Truck Stop at the Center of the Galaxy.
When he triggered the hatch, he stepped through and was showered with confetti.
"Welcome back, David!" the Better Angels shouted.
"What are we celebrating?" David asked, brushing off confetti.
"Not having to celebrate anything!" they shrieked, dancing around him frenetically.
David rolled his eyes and went to his cabin to sleep.

There is a gorgeous gathering of #Universities of #Sanctuary in #Edinburgh today with some of the bravest and most tenacious and quite frankly smartest people in the U.K. telling about the difference higher education makes, how hard it is to come by when seeking #asylum, how broken the insane business model (thanks for that insight yesterday Adam Habib #Soas) and what can and gas been done to make things better.
A day of #solidarity #celebration and thoughtful fun.
