While watching a few minutes of Michelangelo Antonioni's ZABRISKIE POINT (1970), I was struck by how different films were being shot in 1970 compared to today, or really anytime after the 1970's. I love the style. To me it's so much more interesting. I'm not so much decrying the current over-dependence on CGI or the cultural indulgences with super heroes, as I am thinking of basic, creative storytelling, camera work, and editing.

... I was watching #AGoodDayToDieHard and I noticed that the #cinematography was beautiful.
Seriously.
Any frame you pause looks like an intricately composed and lit still. The mix of ambient, reflected, hair and edge lighting is soooo well done. And then there are the scenes where lowlight is balanced against club lasers, distant car lights and street lighting.

In 1973 the film THE EXORCIST was release in the US. It was made 2 years before the invention of the #Steadicam (originally a weight-balanced-stabilizer allowing cinematographers to carry a #camera with out the image becoming overly shaky).
See below how they managed to keep the camera movements smooth tracking ahead of actors running up stairs. #Filmmaking is always a matter of problem solving and often invention.
I’m not sure how many people do this camerawork trick but it’s pretty creative considering it doesn’t use any special tools.

Here's my #introduction - I'm a #DeafDisabled #dancer and #engineering #education PhD student. I’m almost done with the first season of #Legion and I’m lovin it. It’s a mix of Fringe, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Enter the Void.
As a fan of the character and #XMen, it felt like a perfect way to encapsulate an Omega level psychic.
And as a fan of #cinematography, it’s breathtaking. Some transitions between scenes are so seamless.
In case you needed a heart-shaped bokeh... circle to make your day slightly heartier.
