Summer morning storm clouds growing over the Gulf of Mexico are illuminated by the rising sun. The centerpiece is a cumulonimbus cloud. The top half is white while the lower half, not yet fully lit, features shades of yellow and orange. Some lower but nearer clouds (stratus?) are dark grey, as they are still shielded from the sun due to the earth’s curvature. They were occurring, but I failed to catch lightning bolts in this panorama.

I got up in disarray this morning. My wife and I were going to take a short trip to a Safari Park near Alexandria, but then I remembered it's Ben's haircut day. So I rushed around to get him to the groomer's place.

To you recall Maslow's hierarchy of needs? If you're not familiar, I encourage you to look it up. At the top of the hierarchy is Self-Actualization. When you're at that stage then supposedly, you have all that you need. I did struggle briefly when I retired, I needed something to do, a hobby. I had choices so I picked one and then settled in for the ride. That's where I am, and I have very few wants. But I do want a Canon 100-400 mm lens 😂.

As the sun rises from behind, it illuminates cumulonimbus clouds over the gulf, just off Florida’s Nature Coast, from top to bottom. In this photo, the tops of the clouds are white, the middle orange and yellowish, and the flat bottom grey. The sky between the cloud bottoms and the Gulf of Mexico are very dark grey, virtually black. This color pattern is reversed as it reflects off of the semi-smooth gulf waters in the bottom half of the photo.
