Although the text of Meyer's Universum (PT) in 1837 expressed doubt that the #Cologne Cathedral could ever be completed, the situation soon changed.
In 1842, as reconstruction began in earnest, a second cornerstone was laid.
This tin medal (50 mm) by Neuss of Augsburg depicts the building as it was at the time and as it would be upon completion
After the revival of interest in the plans for #Cologne Cathedral in the Restoration era, we find increasing representations of the building as it was or might be.
This 1837 engraving from Meyer's Universum (a popular series of topographic and architectural images from around the world) resembles Batty's representation of the tower. The text, full of patriotic fervor, praises the building but doubts it can be completed. Money, you know.

The third edition of #beyondthewall's German translation (the first as hardcover iirc) is my only Con purchase to date. I got everyone from the small publisher @systemmatters available at the booth to sign it.
I bought it at the only #ttrpg sales con I ever visited, the last ever #RPC (2018) in # #cologne. While it was an interesting experience, it's not something I need regularly - I much prefer the smaller regional playing cons.

With nice tailwind we cycled the beautiful cycle path along the 'Rur' towards #Cologne. Very lovely the #Eifel region! Near Cologne, we met Markus and Vesuvio, with whom we cycled in Morocco. The reunion was great! Markus sister invited us to stay in their house.
