If you haven't received 8 free covid tests this fall, what are you waiting for?

If you got 4 earlier, there's another 4 waiting for you.

Is there anywhere in #hamont that still stocks #covidtests ?

"The administration revived the dormant program in September, announcing then that households could order four free tests through a federal website, https://www.covid.gov/tests. Beginning Monday, households may order an additional four tests — or eight tests if they had not ordered any in the previous round."

I’ve posted this info before but it didn’t get far, maybe it’s buried in feeds so please RT

It takes maybe 10 minutes to set things up and 2-3 minutes a month for ImmunoCARE checkins

Just a reminder, you cannot test once with a RAT.

>> A new study shows that on Day #1 the rapid antigen COVID test are only 30 to 60% sensitive, on Day #3 they are 59 to 75% sensitive and on Day #4 they are 80 to 93% sensitive. If have symptoms and you test negative on Day #1, #2 or #3, it is very important to test again on Day #4 and/or Day #5 to make sure that you have not become positive. <<

Posting again about my issues with #Lucira #covid19 tests. I have taken three tests today, only have one left, and two of them have just given me the "all lights flashing, inconclusive" result. I'm hoping test three gives an actual result, but is anyone else getting these issues with Lucira? Is there a way to avoid them? For context, the expiration date on these is October 22, 2023, so in theory they should be working, but it is getting expensive, time consuming and extremely frustrating to have to take multiple tests to try to get an accurate result.

I'm thinking it's time for me to suck it up and get the Metrix #covid tests, but they're so very, very expensive! But on the other hand, today I essentially just spent $60 on useless Lucira tests, so...

Order Covid Tests From COVIDtests.gov – Now Live
17 minutes ago

COVIDtests.gov is now accepting orders for four, free, COVID-19 rapid antigen tests from the federal government. This is a continuation of the program that the Biden-Harris Administration began in January of 2022.

All too often in this hellscape, it feels virtuous to leave seemingly scarce resources for those who have less capacity – less money, less time, less information – to acquire them. But I'm here to tell you: this is not one of those times.

One of the most consistent objections on covid that I hear from officials inside the Biden-Harris Administration is "but people don't want [$X], there's just no real demand for [$X]." One of the most consistent problems we have when interacting with industry, like test manufacturers? "But there's no consumer demand for [$X]."

That's why it is very important that we show the Biden-Harris Administration that there is demand for these tests. The best way we have, right now, to tell government and industry that we continue to want and need covid tests is to place an order for four covid tests from COVIDtests.gov – I strongly urge you to do so.

ALSO if you are in some states like California, your insurance is REQUIRED to give you 8 FREE tests PER PERSON PER 30 days until further notice. [e.g. a family of 4 can get 16 boxes of 2 tests per month FREE]
As the winter gets closer, I recommend picking up your full free test order each month and having them on hand esp before thanksgiving, Christmas, etc...

Lots of people seem to be celebrating free #CovidTests

IMHO to first approximation worse than useless (without suitable messaging/education) — negative (rapid) test does *not* mean not contagious:

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/how-long-could-i-be-contagious-before-a-positive-virus-test

Would have been better to spend money on free good quality N95 masks and:
- Minimally introduce mandates in healthcare settings
- Provide education for mask benefits beyond just Covid
- Bonus: Provide free vaccine for all, no questions

ORDERING IS NOW OPEN FOR ALL US HOUSEHOLDS!!!

(Link below and on our Linktree in bio.)

Please order your tests, whether you "have enough" or can afford to purchase them yourself.

Demanding the tests already set aside for you by the federal government proves we still care about the ongoing pandemic.

Show them we know C19 remains a threat. We demand more support.

If you can afford your own tests, please redistribute your allotment to larger families/households. 4 TESTS PER ADDRESS IS NOT ENOUGH. You can also give them to free pantries or directly to your unhoused neighbors.

Please also remember to help your neighbors and loved ones, especially elders, who may not have internet access or who otherwise lack the ability to place their own orders.

No one should miss out on their tests for lack of accessibility.

Get your free rapid tests here:

And remember to check ALL rapid tests you acquire against the FDA extended shelf life list! (Also on our Linktree for easy locating.)

The Biden administration announced Wednesday that it is providing $600 million in funding to produce new at-home COVID-19 tests and is restarting a website allowing Americans to again order up to four free tests per household — aiming to prevent possible shortages during a rise in coronavirus cases that has typically come during colder months.

Is anyone else who's #CovidCautious noticing the quality of #Lucira #covid19 tests seems to be...lacking? I assume their results still very accurate, but anytime I take one, it almost always gives the "inconclusive" result, so I have to take another one, and I end up having to wait over an hour to figure out if it's safe for me to see high risk friends or not while also more quickly using up my dwindling supply.

I'm also noticing that many boxes seem to have pieces missing, usually the nasal swabs, so I end up using a swab from some rapid antigen tests that are about to expire, and I'm not sure if that impacts the quality of the result or not.

Is this happening because the only Lucira tests left are close to their expiration dates? Is it because they're likely from when Lucira was going bankrupt? Has anyone else noticed this? And does anyone know if Pfizer has any plans to make these tests available again in the future?

Well... We did it. We pulled the trigger on a Cue Health Covid tester and a pack of tests. Clinics in our insurance are only testing symptomatic cases. Free testing other places has gone away, and the NAAT testing at the local pharmacies is booked solid and more expensive, honestly. It is not going to be the cheapest thing in the world, but there is some peace of mind knowing that if we're exposed, we can get PCR quality testing at home with a 20 minute return time. And in the case of our local pharmacy at the Safeway, they're already wanting to sell proctored Cue tests anyways for more than we'll be paying for them. So why not go to the source. The thing that makes me grumpy is that if we as a nation really cared, the price of this stuff would be peanuts and it would be accessible to everybody. But nobody fucking gives a damn. Covid's over, dontchaknow. Assholes.

The end of the National Emergency and Public Health Emergency should not affect the emergency authorizations for Covid tests, including home tests. But the 8 monthly tests paid by insurance will end, and more generally things will cost more money. The authority for the EUA is under a separate emergency declaration under section 564 of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act that’s not ending. So we won’t need contraband tests, yet.
